greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 You’re a good fisherman? So am I…….Now go get me some fish and coconuts and I might let you eat some. Am I dead in this scenario? Quote
eyeball Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 This is a twisted thing to write! Are you suggesting you would kill a human being? WWWTT Hey, for warned is for armed right? If you ever find yourself in a life-raft throw him over the side before you even wash ashore. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
Guest Derek L Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 What fuels their decision making process? Does advertising/lobbying influence what you buy? Do they influence what you buy by convincing you that you need it? How do they do that? Again, you know where I'm going with this. I can’t speak for you, but when I buy McDonalds, their advertising plays little to no role. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Am I dead in this scenario? Nah, keep bringing in the fish and coconuts.......And entertain me prior to the Superbowl and you’ll be all right.... Quote

greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Over the course of how many centuries? Who cares how long it took? The result was the same. And the point is it proves an over-emphasis on imperialism without respecting the bottom line can and will lead to collapse. As I said, the Carthaginians were never a problem for Rome again…….remember the difference between strategic and tactical. So, Rome won the battle, but lost the war. Who cares about an empire's victories if in the end the empire collapses? Quote
greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 No, I want coconuts and tuna, no herring…….. The case with Dassault is recent news………But I’d love to hear your take on Lockmart……… Is there a question in there somewhere? Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) So, Rome won the battle, but lost the war. Who cares about an empire's victories if in the end the empire collapses? All empires collapse...what are you trying to prevent? You live in a part of a collapsed empire. Is it so bad? Edited February 5, 2012 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Who cares about an empire's victories if in the end the empire collapses? We’re talking about short term gains………….If you and I get off the Island at some point and 1000 years pass, and one of your decedents does something kind for one of mine, what do I care? If you don’t win the present, there might not be a future. Quote
greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 I can’t speak for you, but when I buy McDonalds, their advertising plays little to no role. Keep telling yourself that. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Is there a question in there somewhere? Yup, You seem to have some insider knowledge on the inner workings of Lockheed…….I find that interesting as a former employee of their competitors. Quote
greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Nah, keep bringing in the fish and coconuts.......And entertain me prior to the Superbowl and you’ll be all right.... Considering the negotiations started off with you holding a gun, and talking about wiping me off the face of the island. I'd say negotiations have gone pretty well for me. Chalk one up for diplomacy. Indeed.....our LockMart plant is closing down...lots of layoffs I guess they didn't collude well enough with government. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

If I get off the island alive, that's proof that diplomacy works. If you don’t win the present, there might not be a future. "win the present"? Explain that. Quote
greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Yup, You seem to have some insider knowledge on the inner workings of Lockheed…….I find that interesting as a former employee of their competitors. Again, question? Quote
Guest Derek L Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) If I get off the island alive, that's proof that diplomacy works. Do you think you’d have got off the Island without providing me services that I deemed worthy? What do you think the result would have been if you threaten to blockade me from the coconut tree? "win the present"?Explain that. I don't eat or drink, I die. Edited February 5, 2012 by Derek L Quote
Guest Derek L Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Again, question? You suggested collusion of the part of Lockheed and the “Government”……..prove it. Or was it just a hunch? Quote
greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Are you in Sunnyvale? Space Systems Took quite a hit with Obama’s NASA policy... How's General Atomics, AeroVironment, or Boeing doing with Obama's policies? Quote
greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Do you think you’d have got off the Island without providing me services that I deemed worthy? Who cares, at least I'm alive, it's a good start. What do you think the result would have been if you threaten to blockade me from the coconut tree? That's a pretty big 'if'. I'm not so sure it would be to my advantage to do that. I don't eat or drink, I die. What does that have to do with "winning the present" in the context of Canada today? Quote
greyman Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 You suggested collusion of the part of Lockheed and the “Government”……..prove it. Or was it just a hunch? An invitation to propagandize. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 How's General Atomics, AeroVironment, or Boeing doing with Obama's policies? All told, if one looks at overall defence stock prices today, they are staying stable and in most cases rising, despite Obama’s (And many other Western Governments) stated policy of reducing defence expenditures……..I bet you can’t figure that one out Quote
Guest Derek L Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Who cares, at least I'm alive, it's a good start. Just as Iran is alive. That's a pretty big 'if'. I'm not so sure it would be to my advantage to do that. Exactly, you seem to have some common sense about you…….In this scenario, your position is reached not through diplomatic means, but the realization that a .45ACP round would dead you rather quick. What does that have to do with "winning the present" in the context of Canada today? Ensuring our nation has the means to survive and live it’s expected lifestyle. Quote
