William Ashley Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) the numbers make no sense to me http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20111204/will-perimeter-deal-help-canada-crack-down-on-ei-cheats-111204/ does canada really loose over 1 billion in EI fraud from people working in the us? it sounds like paying 100$ to save 50. yeah now all they need to do is make business rather than debt.... you can have access..................,,...... ....... but we can only buy american... uhhuh,,, uhuhuh, ONLY 2 DAYS AWAY!!!!! http://www.montrealgazette.com/business/Border+pact+tops+agenda+White+House/5805734/story.html It is great how this agreement to improve mobility will do nothing to improve mobility, but rather require more intelligence to be analyzed, and present more oppourtu nties for complications due to disse ting opinion resulting in more denials and more court situations, it is fun y that this measure to hekp corps and business execs comes with lower taxes for corps and seemingly point after point of violations and problems for average canadians This is total bs, I don;t even travel to the us yet the ca adian governme t js goi gto give my trave, ite erary to the.. The security agreement with the United States is expected to include an entry-exit system allowing the U.S. to monitor people entering or leaving Canada. Furthermore, OFAC also holds that U.S. citizens also may not receive goods or services for free from any Cuban national, eliminating any attempts to circumvent the regulation based on that premise. " indirect attack on toronto economy Via Canada A common practice for U.S. citizens traveling to Cuba via Canada is a two-leg flight: a flight booking for a flight to (and from) Canada and then a separate booking for the flight to (and from) Cuba. The two legs must be booked separately, as airlines such as Air Canada prohibit the booking of U.S. origin passengers to Cuba. Alternately, one could drive or be driven across the border and dropped off in a Canadian city, and proceed to depart from there. This is more easily done for people near Detroit or New York, as non-stop flights to Havana depart from either Montreal or Toronto. Or what of this "gglave Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Vancouver, Canada Programs: Aeroplan Elite Posts: 2,612 >A German national can gain entry into the >U.S. with a Cuban stamp in his/her passport. If the agent deems to let them in. I used to have several large arabic-laden visas in my passport from Egypt and Jordan. I used to get so much hassle about them that eventually I paid to get a new (Canadian) passport. However, gaining entry is at the discretion of the border official, who may take umbridge at a stamp s/he doesn't like. >I'm an American citizen and I have a Cuban stamp in my passport and not >only has that never stopped me from re-entering the country If you are an American citizen, don't your border agents have to let you in regardless? Where else are you going to go? Live at the border station? They might fine you or whatever, but they have to let you in. Topaz Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) Come on, does the Harper thinks Canadians are that stupid? This is just the excuses they are using to do what they want, but on the other hand, the Conservative/reform/alliance/party loves spending our money. No I believe that the wheels are in motion to bring the 3 countries, canada, us and mexico under one and they think they are being smart under the border issue. Harper will benefit from this just like Mulroney benefitted from free trade with Bush sr. Harper tells Canadians our household debt is too much amd yet this guy is spending money like water! 1 billion for this, 500,000 for the Detroit-window bridge, 9+ Bil for jets, etc, he keeps spending and spending! http://ca.news.yahoo.com/perimeter-deal-may-help-canada-crackdown-ei-migration-223829381.html Edited December 5, 2011 by Topaz Quote

Tilter Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) I guess the answer regarding Cuba is --- Don't piss-off Uncle Sam. The result is a long standing grudge Edited December 7, 2011 by Tilter Quote
MiddleClassCentrist Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 I think the fact that the Liberals and then the Conservatives pilfered the EI fund... And now the suggestion is that we raise contributions, is more concerning. Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.
William Ashley Posted December 9, 2011 Author Report Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) I guess the answer regarding Cuba is --- Don't piss-off Uncle Sam. The result is a long standing grudge Us lost on that one, also cuba was the good guy. US conquered cuba in the spanish american war and subjected its people to be whores for america as indentured servants under the tutelage of us backed dictators. reaping the profits of backbreaking labour in the fields us tried to overthrow castro before he made stronger relations with the ussr, us policy under the monroe doctrine totally violates the un charter, the us is an aggressors state and a bad guy, ain't nothing wrong with cuba, the us faces many of the same issues as cuba, learn a little about history before you make such stupid statements,''the us is a tantrum child and little more, there are issues of disenfranchisement and suppression everywhere in the world. and no Inwont claim that is all the cias fault get a clue to understand that ONLY the us stopped trade with cuba, not much of an embargo. The us is still illegally occupying part of cuba, the us is the bad guy they are the invader they are the occupier. Gunboat diplomacy is a bad guy practice, it is thuggery Edited December 9, 2011 by William Ashley Quote I was here.
