eyeball Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Anyone scared yet? Anyone have a clue as to how much trouble we are really in?? I guess it's clear somebody thinks we're screwed. It all just seems so out of my control not to mention far away. I think like most people my eyes just kind of glaze over at the doom and gloom. Why should we be scared if we're all in it together? Facing problems alone is usually a lot more frightening. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 ....Why should we be scared if we're all in it together? Facing problems alone is usually a lot more frightening. Agreed...being scared all the time...about everything....is just for silly wabbits. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
olp1fan Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Why should we be scared if we're all in it together? Facing problems alone is usually a lot more frightening. Because if this doesn't work, the whole world is doomed...the world economy will collapse worse than 2008 (we're talking great depression collapse), nations will go down and have to become protectionist to survive which will create a lot of nationalism, then countries start invading each other, a few countries will get nuked it will be a very different world by 2020 That is the likely scenario should this fail Quote
eyeball Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Sucks to be us I guess, but the sooner the better I say. With any luck Canada and the US will fall apart and concepts like Cascadia will rise like a Phoenix and lead the planet to a better way. I'm really thankful I live in such interesting times myself Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
bush_cheney2004 Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 Frankly, I'm surprised that there is so much whining and complaining before any such doom has even taken place. Why do some people think they should have it any better than generations past who have faced far worse? Silly wabbits. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Post To The Left Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) EU officials said they have 10 days to save the euro zone Which EU officials? The media have been saying there are only 10 days left for the last two years. Edited December 1, 2011 by Post To The Left Quote

dre Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) The world is doomed! DOOOOOMED I say!!!!11!!11!! I dont think the world is doomed. Having the banking system collapse would hurt for a few years but in the long term it would be the best thing that ever happened to us. Im not afraid of whats coming, Im excited about it. And at the end of the day, even a major event like the great depression barely even caused a ripple in human development and standard of life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHLV2oR0oX0&feature=related Edited December 1, 2011 by dre Quote I question things because I am human. Governments would have to implement huge tax hikes in order to fund gigantic military expenditures and taxpayers will tell them to go piss up a rope. There will be LESS war once this system is gone, not more. Like I was pointing out to Mike in another thread... I order to pay for WW2, the US had to create its first payroll tax (income tax) and it started charging federal taxes to 40 million people that had never paid them before. Earners over 1 million were taxed at over 90%. Under the funny money system, you can fight two elective wars, while planning a third, and cut taxes right in the middle of it. So people understandably are like "Aight... whatever". Youre exactly backwards on this point, IMO. Edited December 1, 2011 by dre Quote I question things because I am human. "There is no one single silver bullet that will get us out of this crisis." OF COURSE they want to get bailed out fast. Either way thats already happening. In the last week central banks have taken steps to further globalize the banking system and make it easier to redistribute money from countries with good economic policy to those with bad policies. Bank bailouts are no longer an emergency measure. They are now officially a part of how we do business on an ongoing basis. 5 trillion, 10 trillion, 20 trillion, 500 trillion... theres no limit to the ammount that the global fiat empire will dump into the system to try to save it for as long as possible. olp1fan Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 as for less wars in the future.. the mid east uprising will continue.. we still have the Iran situation North Korea... South China Sea ordeal, the arctic resource wars where even Scottland is thinking about getting involved not to mention african wars like sudan Quote
dre Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 I hope you're right but I highly doubt it I have absolutely no doubt about it at all. Do you think people would have supported the Iraq war if it meant massive tax hikes, and earners over a million surrendering MOST or almost ALL of their income? Not a freakin chance. dre Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) they still bombed vietnam where there was massive resistance not to Nobody cares about dirt poor protesters. We are talking about having to implement huge taxe hikes on all the citizens and on the entire business community here, and confiscating most of the "profit" made by everyone in the economy. In any case the system you are worried will collapse is the engine that funds and fuels all these wars. Edited December 1, 2011 by dre Quote I question things because I am human. olp1fan Posted December 1, 2011 Report Posted December 1, 2011 In any case the system you are worried will collapse is the engine that funds and fuels all these wars. That leaves nuclear weapons to be the easiest option then Quote
