RNG Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 No I agree lets run pipelines from coast to coast. Like it or not though 70% of all our "stuff" goes to the US we need that to change. Exactly, we are arguing the same thing here. That's why the pipelines to Kitimat are so important. They would greatly reduce our dependency on the US market. Jack Weber Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Sure lets build a pipeline across the whole country. We could have pipelines to any number of ports on the Great Lakes and ship the oil from there... Quote The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!
punked Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) We could have pipelines to any number of ports on the Great Lakes and ship the oil from there... Find by me build that one to. We have enough oil and gas to pipe where ever it needs to go. Edited May 17, 2011 by punked Quote
WWWTT Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Canada's economy is strong compared to others right now, but we are still up to our eyeballs in debt ourselves. Thanks Trudeau! Are you aware of the political/environmental storm here in BC about oil and LNG tankers. Go to the great lakes and then you have what, 4 political entities to fight? WWWTT Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I think if the US cut military spending they would be in fine financial shape and someday they will realize having 10 times many bombs as everyone else in the world put together doesn't give you health care or education and come to their senses or at least I hope. Absolutely right NASA is also another major leech! They will never get it together until they address these two issues WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! You are showing a way more fiscally conservative outlook on this than I would have expected. Ya the two branches of each body that would be directly involved(educated guessing now) would be transportation and environment, and possibly(more than likey) several others. So some quik math would give you a ballpark figure of 36-40 different agencies/bodies that would have an interest. I recall a large natural gas deposit being discovered under Lake Erie about 5-8yrs ago. Some initial exploration tests were done to determine the size of the reserve. And eventually the deposit/reserve extraction project was scrapped after environmental assesments were done.I suspect that all parties involved(Ohio,Ontario,US,Canada,Michigan,Penslyvania,if not more)came to the conclusion the legal fees and disputes would bury any possibility of any feesible profit. Moonlight Graham Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) That's not even true anymore. They need to cut spending and raise taxes. They need to cut spending everywhere. Do you have a source? I tried looking on wikipedia but the two numbers they give for Canada (IMF vs CIA Factbook/Eurostat) are wildly different. I looked up public debt as % of GDP. Others mostly certainly contributed, but Trudeau started the giant toilet flush. Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.

I tried looking on wikipedia but the two numbers they give for Canada (IMF vs CIA Factbook/Eurostat) are wildly different. I looked up public debt as % of GDP. One number includes all debt, and one only includes federal debt. Canada's federal debt is very low, and individually, outside of Quebec, provincial debt is too. Federal debt sits just over 30% of GDP. Before the recession, it sat at about 28%. US federal debt is now over 95% of GDP. Quote
