cybercoma Posted May 3, 2011 Author Report Posted May 3, 2011 They're saying on CTV News right now that there's 17 minutes until the polls close and they can discuss the results. As long as the polls are closed, all the votes are cast, we can begin discussion, to my understanding. Quote
ninjandrew Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 In BC I think polls close at 730 (when they closed in Alberta), which would be 1hr and 17 min. Quote "Everything in moderation, including moderation." -- Socrates

Anyone watching TV there can see the results then. Anyone in BC has to wait half an hour more before they can see anything. Web results can't be posted until 10 pm EDT. Quote

CBC I know is just having their special start at 930 while blacking it out for BC and YK. Quote

Bonam Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 You live in BC. I'm jealous that you live in such a beautiful place. Yep, BC is awesome. You can enjoy much of the same kind of beauty in Washington state, though. Quote
nittanylionstorm07 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Yep, BC is awesome. You can enjoy much of the same kind of beauty in Washington state, though. I went to Seattle for the first time this January for the AMS conference (I had been to Spokane in 2000 which is beautiful in its own right) I was simply astounded at how beautiful and amazing the place was. Gorgeous beyond words... and I saw the best sunset of my life from the space needle! Quote
cybercoma Posted May 3, 2011 Author Report Posted May 3, 2011 Bell ExpressVu and Shaw Cable have broken the blackout law in Ontario. People have been watching the results on their time-shifting channels. Bell denies it, but they're sending pictures into CBC News. Quote
RNG Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 You live in BC. I'm jealous that you live in such a beautiful place. It should be beautiful and more given what it costs to live here. A medical condition makes it imperative that I live at or near sea level and in a warm(er) climate. There are many places in the US that would be better, but at my age there is no way I could afford medical insurance, hell, if I could get any in the first place. Another thing wrong with our medicare. It totally limits your choices. Had I carried my own insurance from when I got my first job, that wouldn't be a problem. Something is better than nothing, in that case... you're right that you probably wouldn't qualify in the US for insurance coverage even with newer laws passed. Quote
RNG Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Follow this link, then scroll down, in the lower right is a list of parties. Many of them, I'd guess most of the unbannered ones aren't running anyone. Once you get party status, does it last forever? http://www.ctv.ca/mini/election2011/results/index.html Edited May 3, 2011 by RNG Quote The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.
