cybercoma Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Would you want to take on Mr. Book himself? Harper knows that Ignatieff is over loaded with trival acedemic knowledge and the public might actually believe that Iggy is actually smart. Harper issued the challenge. Quote
Bryan Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Why on earth would Harper accept Mercer, as anti-Tory an entertainer as ever existed, as the 'moderator' in a debate with a Liberal? Agreed. Regardless of what he might have been inclined to do, Mercer is never going to be involved. If the broadcast consortium was proposing mercer as the original moderator (over Paikin), I'm quite certain Harper would have pulled a Trudeau. I would. Quote
wyly Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 mercer is going to have a field day if harper declines. and harper's poll numbers will plummet. given how secretive and untransparent harper has been as a prime minister, will certainly be apropos if the issue of this election becomes his refusal to debate the issues, and instead follow a carefully scripted and choreographed campaign reminiscent of Kim campbell's claiming an election campaign is no time to be discussing the issues... Quote “Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.”- John Stuart Mill
Saipan Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 No, the issue is Harper is a snivelling coward. Where is your evidence? Where you got that "news" from? Who would be moderating that debate? On what television? CBC or National Post? And the best part last: Ignatieff basically told the NDP and Green they don't count. UNLESS they help him to be the Prime Minister. After that he won't need them again. Quote
Radsickle Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) The reason it was turned down was the Ignatieff team demanded that the questions and answers be formed in Iambic pentameter ... Funny. Seriously though, little Stevie ran away when Iggy said ok, let's have a tete-a-tete. He pro-rogued again. See, Stevie can play poker but he can't talk without his speech-writers present (a slight flaw in the wiring.) No, seriously though, he knows Iggy will nail him for not resigning the moment he was found guilty of contempt of parliament. Resigning would've been the respectable and proper thing to do. Little Stevie shrugs it off... for now... Edited April 3, 2011 by Radsickle Quote
punked Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 I know Iggy wants Canada to be America but even in America if you can get 10-15% they will let you in the debates. Wow Iggy really hates democracy doesn't he? Quote
Shwa Posted April 4, 2011 Author Report Posted April 4, 2011 Would you want to take on Mr. Book himself? Harper knows that Ignatieff is over loaded with trival acedemic knowledge and the public might actually believe that Iggy is actually smart. And you don't think he is smart and all his professorships were some sort of fluke or inside job? Come on Oleg, even for you that's a bit nuts. Quote
Scotty Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 And you don't think he is smart and all his professorships were some sort of fluke or inside job? Come on Oleg, even for you that's a bit nuts. Smart like Trudeau, you mean, who ran our economy pretty much into the ground? Quote It is an inverted moral calculus that tries to persuade the world to demonize one state that tries its civilized best to abide in a difficult time and place, and rides merrily by the examples and practices of dozens of states and leaderships that drop into brutality every day without a twinge of regret or a whisper of condemnation. - Rex Murphy
bloodyminded Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Or contribute to the economy. It's funny that some people (mostly lefties) don't understand that Public sector jobs don't contribute, they only take. Tell a CUPE member that they don't actually pay taxes, and watch their heads explode. Draw it out, show them the math, and they'll still argue vociferously. It's crazy. That doesn't mean the jobs aren't a vital part of our society. I guess the small, overworked DOT Department my lady works for could be shut down, because it doesn't "contribute jobs" or "create wealth." I mean, there's no need for an Emergency Services liason between the RCMP, the coroners, the Sheriffs, Commerical Vehicle Enforcement Officers, and all the rest. They could just, you know, call one another on their radios, on the fly, and figure it out all out coherently and without chaos or financial waste. Sure, they could! Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings
Saipan Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 And you don't think he is smart and all his professorships were some sort of fluke or inside job? Albert Einstein was much smarter but not a material to lead a country. Same go for most lawyers. Quote
Shwa Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 Smart like Trudeau, you mean, who ran our economy pretty much into the ground? Yeah, Trudeau really ran us into the ground. Completely wrecked our economy, damned wage price controls. How dare he attempt austerity during the 70's?? I mean how on earth did we even get into the G7 with our economy so driven into the ground? Eh, Scotty? How? Quote

Shwa Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 How?....Gerald Ford and Helmut Schmidt. Completely suicidal seeing how driven into the ground our economy was. I mean, I could barely go to MacDonalds back then. I believe it was about that time that McDicks started keeping that leftover nickel change and chocolate bars doubled in price to 20 cents each. And we all know why: Trudeau. Unless Scotty meant "ran our economy pretty much into the ground" referring to the increase in mining production. Can't really argue that. Quote
