Topaz Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Canadians are still reeling from the recession but it seem the government have been having alot of "happy hour" the past four years! Out of the $620,00, the DND has spent 495,532.00 of that, which 104,736 of that was without approve from the Minister. When trying to find out the money spent over at CSIS, they said they couldn't say because of national security! This article is an eye opener and now it explain Stockwell Day bid to cut spending within the government. Is could also explain why so many of the Tory men have put the weight on...too much beer. http://links.visibli.com/links/81b3e5 Quote

Wilber Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Look at it this way, over 70% of it went back to governments in taxes. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
The_Squid Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Look at it this way, over 70% of it went back to governments in taxes. That's a really lame excuse for the wasting of taxpayers money on alcohol. Quote
Smallc Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 That's a really lame excuse for the wasting of taxpayers money on alcohol. Most of the money was spent by the military though, and if I recall, the deployed troops are allotted a certain amount of alcohol. Quote

No problem here with buying those folks a beer. That said, all spending should be accounted for unless it really would violate national security. Hard to see how a bar bill could fit that category. fellowtraveller Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I'm sure the bar tab for the CDN govt was far, far more than $600k! That would buy about one round at the United Nations. or look at it this way: over 200,000 civil servants, the $600k would buy a pint for about half of them, assuming the server got a bit of a tip. Quote The government should do something.

With what CSIS may use it for, it's possible that it can't be accounted for in public. Quote
fellowtraveller Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I've been to two regional CSIS offices on business. They are the kind of people who wear their watch faces turned inwards in case they reveal the time of day. Tip: you are under surveillance at all times in or near a CSIS office. Street, lobby, elevator, offices, washrooms. Optical and electronic. Quote The government should do something.
Wilber Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 With what CSIS may use it for, it's possible that it can't be accounted for in public. Some of it possibly but they won't even say how much they spent, let alone how they spent it. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
fellowtraveller Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 everybody here who has appeared on a thread mentioning CSIS is already in a file and being tracked. Gitmo will be your next winter holiday. Quote The government should do something.
