fellowtraveller Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 don't see many goalie fights at all anymore, wouldn't Johnson get an instigator penalty/suspension for travelling all the way down the ice to start that one? He also lost a shutpout with 16 seconds left in the game! Afterwards, Di Pietro commented that 'Johnson has really long arms' which is true, he is like 6'5" tall. The most predictable part was watching Matt Coooke turtling in the corner, the guy makes me puke. Quote The government should do something.
Moonlight Graham Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- New York Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro is expected to miss the next 4-to-6 weeks with facial fractures suffered in a fight Wednesday. Awesome. 1 punch = 1 month & a fractured face. My link Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.
dre Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Theyll play again someday soon, and the balance sheet will get fixed up. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
The_Squid Posted February 4, 2011 Author Report Posted February 4, 2011 Dipietro was definitely coaxing him down the ice. He wanted to fight.... ooops. bad move. Johnson will be suspended, no doubt. Not for the damage from the punch, but for leaving his crease and coming down the ice to scrap.... There was a bit of contact between Cooke and Dipietro.... both were getting in each other's space. No harm done... Quote
Shady Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Dipietro was definitely coaxing him down the ice. He wanted to fight No he wasn't. Johnson's actions were pretty cheap. He should be fined and suspended. That was pathetic. Quote
kimmy Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 don't see many goalie fights at all anymore, wouldn't Johnson get an instigator penalty/suspension for travelling all the way down the ice to start that one? He also lost a shutpout with 16 seconds left in the game! Afterwards, Di Pietro commented that 'Johnson has really long arms' which is true, he is like 6'5" tall. I believe that since DiPietro left his own crease, there's no extra sanction against Johnson. The most predictable part was watching Matt Coooke turtling in the corner, the guy makes me puke. Cooke is a piece of fecal matter. He's going to get what's coming one of these days, and it's going to be funny when it happens. I associate myself with the remarks of Evander Kane: Tough-guy Cooke decides to pick a fight with an 18 year old rookie and gets his head blasted clean off. Justice just doesn't get any more poetic, does it? Awesome. 1 punch = 1 month & a fractured face. My link DiPietro is one of the most fragile men on the planet. fellowtraveller Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 good video kimmmy, I cannot believe I had not see that scrap before. But what did the commentators mean when they said 'I hope Matt Cooke is OK"? Why did they say that? Quote The government should do something.
kimmy Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 These two teams met again last night... and revenge was on the Islanders' minds. Aside from pummeling the Penguins 9-3 on the scoreboard, the Islanders also pummeled the Penguins physically. Once the score became lopsided, there were non-stop brawls. The Islanders were hunting for Maxime Talbot, who had injured one of the Islanders in the previous game with a questionable hit. Talbot put on a Cooke-like display, turtling each time somebody wanted a piece of him. Sadly, Cooke himself wasn't playing, as he'd been suspended for checking a player into the glass from behind in another game last week. So many players were ejected from the game that by the time the final buzzer sounded, there were more coaches than players on both benches. There will be a number of suspensions. Some people complain that incidents like this are a black mark on the sport of hockey. However, where I was working last night, we had to tune every TV in the place to that game. That was what the customers wanted to watch. Like, all of them. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
The_Squid Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 There was even a player leaving the bench to fight so Johnson (the goalie who KO'ed Dipietro) didn't have to fight. I like the occasional brawl. Anyone who says it is a "black mark on the game" probably doesn't watch hockey regularly anyway. It did get a bit out of hand, and that's not good... but I was entertained.... Quote
