Shakeyhands Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Lets see.... Hamilton already has a commitment to host the Pan Am Soccer Tourney. What commitment does Quebec have? See the difference? Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Keepitsimple Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 It's OK - it's not an issue. Mr. Ignatieff is completely on board....sounds like he's reading the Conservative talking points: Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff has offered guarded support for the idea of using federal funds to build a new NHL arena in Quebec City, giving the Harper government more political cover should it decide to bankroll the project.Ignatieff suggested Wednesday his party would support federal funding for the proposed 18,000-seat arena, provided the city comes up with a “well-put-together” business plan that demonstrates the facility will have a “cultural use” and serve as a “real regional economic driver.” “If that’s the proposition, and it’s really put together well, and we’ve got private participation and public participation from the other two levels of government, a federal government is going to be involved,” Ignatieff told reporters after the Liberals wrapped up their winter caucus meetings. “But then you don’t do this one off; you then have to be sure that you’ve got fairness and equity across the country, because there are other regions . . . that have a good enough claim on that.” Link: http://www.canada.com/sports/Ignatieff+suggests+with+Quebec+arena+funding/4173770/story.html Quote Back to Basics

Battletoads Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 After the hack job the media did on Dion the idea that the media is liberal is laughable. Quote "You can lead a Conservative to knowledge, but you can't make him think."

Shady Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 After the hack job the media did on Dion the idea that the media is liberal is laughable. Not the media. Just the traditional national media. The CBC, Globe & Mail, The Star, etc. Quote
nicky10013 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Not the media. Just the traditional national media. The CBC, Globe & Mail, The Star, etc. Which is the very media you claim to be liberal. Quote
Pliny Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 After the hack job the media did on Dion the idea that the media is liberal is laughable. The Liberals had to dump Dion somehow. He was a liability. And as usual, the media was doing the Liberals a favour. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.

Keepitsimple Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) Had the opportunity to see Jim Flaherty being interviewed by Evan Solomon on CBC and then by Don Martin on CTV. They were shown within a few minutes of each other so it was easy to compare. The "tone" was so obviously different. Solomon was on the verge of being disrespectful (I thought he was) in constantly interrupting to voice his position to the tax cuts - citing the opposition and certain critics but not lending any credibility or balance to the government's position. Don Martin on the other hand led a respectful interview that pointed out some of the critics' claims but allowed Flaherty to state his position without interruption. It goes on day after day on Power Play, where Solomon and the CBC is simply disrespectful of Canada and it's sitting government. Edited February 1, 2011 by Keepitsimple Quote Back to Basics
PIK Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 reporting both. Wanna try again? Is it all over the front pages? Is every blogger reporting it? Are news cast alway starting off with it? Are pepole here on this baord ragging about it? No not at all, a few paragraghs here and there, but very little. And people here say, well they got the games quebec has nothing, well how about a 50 million dollar payroll for the city, look at the taxes that will collect. Shwa Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) ...the CBC is simply disrespectful of Canada and it's sitting government. I find your 'tone' towards Solomon and the CBC to be full of bias and right wing brainwashed ideology and not paying enough to the body language of Martin in the CTV interview. Therefore I find you - and everyone at your workplace/home/town - to be 'disrespectful' to Canada and all Canadians. Remove all of your flags and maple leaf paraphernalia and get out of our country now. Edited February 1, 2011 by Shwa Quote

Fair and balanced - Yuk! Yuk! Only I believe the CBC has not realized Mr. Flaherty is considered an asset by Conservatives. How short-sighted of them.
