kimmy Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Georges is a beautiful human being who gives generously of his time and money and fame to help people whenever he can. When he was traded from the Oilers, he went downtown and set up a table and spent the whole day signing autographs for a dollar apiece and raised thousands of dollars for the Youth Emergency Shelter. That's just typical of the guy who went to visit sick kids in the hospital every week or would buy underprivileged kids tickets to games with money out of his own pocket. He is a guy who always recognized how lucky he was and was always happy to share his good fortune. But holeee crap, this sure looks like a desperate and tacky stunt for the Green Party. It's just that much harder to take them seriously now. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

I'm reminded of Ken Dryden, or how about "Whipper Billy Watson":Watson was the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada's candidate in York East in the 1965 federal election losing by 3,000 votes. Remiel Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Tacky stunt? I'm reminded of Ken Dryden, or how about "Whipper Billy Watson": I do not think anyone is saying that it is a stunt for him to be a member of the Green Party or seek office. It is the additional part of being Deputy Party Leader... after being in the party a mere six months. Quote
Bryan Posted August 3, 2010 Report Posted August 3, 2010 Laraques is not just an NHL tough guy, he has also been training in MMA with Georges St. Pierre. Maybe instead of debates, he'll challenge his political opponents to a cage match. Quote
P. McGee Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 The idea seems to be to win seats from the Bloc by targeting young Quebecers, which by itself seems like a reasonable strategy for the Green party. The decision to make him deputy leader after such a short time as a member does make the party look a little silly but it's possible that it could pay off for them. Quote
