Yup, completely ridiculous socialist excess. Obviously some of the houses mentioned are beyond what even middle class professionals could afford and yet are given on the taxpayer's dime to people who do nothing. The housing claims system, as described in the article, seems like an insult to people who actually pay their own way.

Hopefully the reforms mentioned in the article take place, though I'm sure there are thousands of other programs in Britain that are just as morbidly idiotic.

I'm not sure however that this particular program has much to do with affirmative action.

Don't do anything to deflate the breathless excitement, Bonham.

If a ridiculous story like this happens, it MUST shoot around the world because...

well, in the end, really because it's amusing. There's not much other point to these things.

Somali asylum seeker family given £2m house... after complaining 5-bed London home was 'in poor area'

is there anything lil britain can do to save itself from their deadly case of "liberal crazy"?

Affirmative action will do the same in Canada - it has already started.

As for the Brits - well, only mad dogs and Brits go out in the noon day sun.

Nothing the Brits do surprizes me - they are no longer a race to be admired - as a whole the people have gone from proudly having an iron back bone to becoming limp dicks over the past 30 years

No, and neither do you unless you're 125 years old.

yes of course, that's exactly what I meant by remember, ... I meant it like: hey remember when we were there!

as long as we're wasting time not tackling the issue at hand.

Well, jumping ahead to crush your point - that immigration somehow ruined the great Great Britain... I'm pointing out that there was a gap between the greatness and the ruin.

Now to you, to tell me that some influx of Spaniards or mudbloods or somesuch caused it.

prior to that they had an empire on which the sun never set... remember?

They had an empire that even Gladstone wasn't exactly thrilled about, because of the enormous expense it took to maintain it. In the end, Britain, bankrupted by two world wars, was simply incapable of holding on to India, let alone that the British electorate had lost any taste for forcibly keeping the subcontinent under British rule. There's some doubt that the British government was even all that thrilled about the conquest of India or of African activities, territories like Rhodesia largely coming about through the pretty questionable activities of guys like Cecil Rhodes or the British East India Company who did whatever the hell they liked and then went to Parliament, and, if getting no satisfaction there, to the press and declared how Britain's interests were being harmed by reticent politicians (just look at Gladstone's unwillingness to help out General Gordon in Khartoum).

What ruined Britain was the see-sawing between excessively incompetent conservative government and almost unbelievably incompetent socialist government.

Mind you, the plan devised by Labour (secretly) to create a blissfully multicultural Britain certainly has hurt as well, in that it's brought over millions of third world people with few job skills, many of whom have, under Labour's encouragement, clung to the outmoded, outdated, primitive cultures of their homelands.

along with an allegiance with the forces of communism in the second world war...
