jefferiah Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Well, I think Vancouver lost because of the fact they had no answer to Bufoonian. Pronger has his number and consequently will winthe cup. Not to take anything away from Byfuglien, but I think he is getting too much credit. The guy is very useful in front of the net, but he is not a legitimate top liner skill wise and I don't think he is the difference maker. Chicago is simply a really good team. Philly is looking pretty good in this series, and even in their game two loss it seemed as if they dominated Chicago. Nonetheless, I am rooting for Chicago now. I cannot stand Pronger. He is a bufoon. Quote "Governing a great nation is like cooking a small fish - too much handling will spoil it." Lao Tzu
Shady Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 I'm hoping Philly wins. I'm not sure if I can take Marian Hossa winning a Stanley Cup. Quote

Well it's over now anyways, but I don't see Hossa is a player who is hate-able. I'd take him on my team anyday. sharkman Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) Hossa has made himself into a gun for hire with no loyalty, and he hasn't exactly done much in the playoffs this year. I couldn't help but notice that Pronger got away with a lot of roughing and crosschecking in front of the net on the Buffoon. The exact same kind of thing that Vancouver was getting penalties for when checking Buf in front of the net and the variance in reffing these playoffs in general was unprofessional to say the least. But I think the best team won this year, at least between Philly and the Blackhawks. It was a strange post season with the Penguins, Washington, San Jose and Pheonix all playing above or below expectations. The clutching, grabbing and interference was tolerated much more then vs the beginning of the season, and it appears Bettman's choke hold on the league is giving way to at least some compromise. But I won't hold my breath as his refusal to put a team in Hamilton but instead in Winnipeg is evidence of his vendetta. A petty man with a napoleon complex. Edited June 10, 2010 by sharkman Quote

I dislike him. He went to Pittsburgh, and when he couldn't win with them, he went to Detroit. And when he couldn't win with them, he went to Chicago. Not to mention he's the guy who basically blinded Brian Berard in one eye several years ago with a careless swing of his stick. Quote

I have heard people make this complaint about him before but I think it's not a fair one. He didn't go to Pittsburgh for a shot at the cup or anything. He was "traded" there are the deadline. Not his choice. He was an upcoming UFA and Atlanta was a seller that year. I remember it well because all us Hab fans were expecting him in a red, white, and blue jersey as Gainey made the only offer to Atlanta, until like a few minutes before the deadline, the Pens offered Armstrong and some promising prospects (Angelo Esposito for one) just to get the guy. Gainey did not compete with that overpayment. Pittsburgh went for a playoff rental and they got burned. After playing only a couple months with Pittsburgh I don't think he had any special moral obligation to re-sign with them. He did sign a one year deal with Detroit, that is true. The flipside of that is that Detroit signed him to a one year deal. And that's nothing out of the ordinary. Players sign where they want when they are UFA and teams that have a shot are always more attractive to many free agents. Unless they don't care about the cup and just want a bigger salary. Or if they arent that coveted and cannot be choosers. Hossa did what every player does, and for two years in a row (I am not counting Pittsburgh since he was traded) he did a pretty good job picking. The deal he signed with Chicago last year was pretty long term. Edited June 11, 2010 by jefferiah Quote "Governing a great nation is like cooking a small fish - too much handling will spoil it." jefferiah Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Hossa has made himself into a gun for hire with no loyalty, and he hasn't exactly done much in the playoffs this year. I know he did not show up on the scoresheet, and I know that's pretty much what he is paid to do, but if I am not mistaken he was suffering from an injury that compromised his shooting. I thought the guy played pretty well every night. He had one more goal than Toews did all series. Toews was great too though. When scorers are not scoring there are other things they can do to make their ice time count. And Hossa was on fire every night. He is pretty loyal to Chicago....I think he is signed there for several years....maybe 12. Quote "Governing a great nation is like cooking a small fish - too much handling will spoil it." Lao Tzu

I've noticed Pronger getting away with stuff for years now. That's certainly part of what makes him such a "great player". Not to take anything away from his defensive abilities. He is a good d-man with a long reach. But being able to put opposing players in a headlock and give them noogies can be very effective. Black Dog Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Hossa has made himself into a gun for hire with no loyalty, and he hasn't exactly done much in the playoffs this year. A gun for hire would be someone who went around seeking the biggest payday. Hossa wanted to win. I have no problem with that. He was also one of the best Hawks on both ends of the ice in the finals. Fantastic player. Quote
