DogOnPorch Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 That seems to be a basic tenant in the Christian Bible as well. God will punish them and judge them at the Pearly Gates if they do not follow God-Allah-Yaweh-ect-ect-ect. Replace Allah for God, and you have basically what the Bible says. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostasy_in_Islam Western churches do not issue a death fatwa re: Christians who become Muslims. dre Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 And why would you say that virtually all Christian nations have grown into political areas tolerant of other religions yet Muslim nations have not? Western countries arent prosperous because they are Christian they are prosperous because they castrated the church and rejected it as a civil authority. We needed to achieve a level of prosperity before we were able to shut the church down here. The ONLY reason the church in the west is more moderate and tolerant is because we FORCE it to be. I don't think Western Mosques do either. Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Michael Hardner

Guest TrueMetis Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 And why would you say that virtually all Christian nations have grown into political areas tolerant of other religions yet Muslim nations have not? Luck, look at which countries had the most freedom of religion, speech, thought, expression, etc. a thousand years or so ago. It sure as hell wasn't the ass backwards christians. Something happened and the fundies got control of the middle east, just like a thousand+ years ago something happened and the fundies got control of Europe. That passed it will pass in the Middle East as well, there are already signs of it happening. Quote
lictor616 Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Western countries arent prosperous because they are Christian they are prosperous because they castrated the church and rejected it as a civil authority. We needed to achieve a level of prosperity before we were able to shut the church down here. The ONLY reason the church in the west is more moderate and tolerant is because we FORCE it to be. The only reason id because Western Civilization had been for 500 years steadily repudiating most of the dreary tales of the bible. Through western science, we became aware that the gap between the ugly nonsense of the bible and observable reality had become too great. We in the West were close to finally laying waste to this inherently alien religion of Christianity, but the recent advent of international communism combined with the progressive defacement of our civilization and especially: our schools, has made a basket case out a huge portion of Westerners, and every sort of cult and insane fundamentalist Christianity is increasing: Evangelicals, with their disturbing "speaking in tongues" who look like they have fits of epilepsy when in prayer for instance I quote a foreword from a 1985 extract of a revised edition of Evola's excellent "Civilta Americana" "Anyone today who considers American society is struck by the impression of a society gone mad, in which the germs of disintegration which Evola pointed to have multiplied and the disease has broken out visibly, defacing a social fabric which was already deteriorating. According to official statistics, more than one-fifth of the population of the United States has been involved with drugs. Organised delinquent hooliganism is still on the increase and has come to dominate large areas of some cities; every kind of sexual aberration is being advocated along with an unbridled sexual grossness; there is increasing violence and sadism in the cities, particularly among the young; pseudo- religious sects proliferate, dragging their disciples into a psychological slum world. These phenomena are only the most obviously disquieting symptoms of an accelerating decline towards total disintegration of the human personality... American society, in fact, is on an irreversible course of extinction." http://www.juliusevola.com/site/american_civilization.txt we are heading towards a new dark ages... Bonam Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 People can adopt whatever religion they like. The thought processes or motivations of a relative of a 9/11 victim adopting Islam might be interesting to explore, but they are free to become Muslims. Quote
Argus Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 (edited) There are huge qualifications to what you post, but generally I agree with that. It's another thing altogether to essentially credit or condemn the religion for these events when it is the falling-away of religion that is associated with the country's advance. Well, yes and no. I wouldn't say religion has fallen away much in many parts of the US, particularly the deep south and midwest. They seem ferociously religious by our standards. Yet even so there seems no particular hostility towards other religions, be it the various forms of Christianity or anyone else (though I imagine Muslims might be looked on rather suspiciously these days). I doubt anyone there seriously contemplates the kind of violent laws in place in many Muslim nations against conversion, for example. And can you imagine a horde of Texans crawling over a mosque with picks and axes, hacking it away in a frenzy because they think it sits on the little spot of land a church was on a thousand years back?
