Topaz Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 One Tory senator retires and Harper replaces him with owner of the B.C. Lions, David Braley. Sometime I wonder what qualifications a person has to have to be appointed. It would be fair for Harper to appoint a NDP as other PM's have but being fair isn't what the Tories are all about. There are a couple of Progressive Conservatives that don't especially like the way Harepr wants to ram things through the senate. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100520/national/fbo_harper_senate_appointment Quote

sharkman Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Topaz, come on. The only fair decision in the landscape of possibility is to pick an NDPer? All other options constitute unfairness? Quote
Remiel Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 I think he is suggesting that the Senate should actually have representation from all parties. I would agree, except that the NDP themselves disagree. Last time I checked, they were for abolishing the Senate and I think it is forbidden for their members to actual stand for appointment. Quote
