August1991
I use IE8. Before in this forum, when I clicked on a link, it opened a new window. (I prefer this since the original MLW forum was still present.) Now, the clicked link opens a new site and replaces the MLW forum in the same window. IOW, I lose the original MLW link, unless I click the back button. ---- Is this an issue of my IE8 settings or is this due to changes in MLW? Smallc
It seems to be a change in the site, as it happens with Safari and Firefox as well. You can instead right click and open a new window (or tab), and that will solve your problem.
Forum Admin Greg Posted May 18, 2010 Forum Admin Report Share Posted May 18, 2010 This was a change that occurred when we upgraded to the latest version a few months ago. I've updated the forum settings to force the opening of a new window when an external link is clicked. I'm not a huge fan of forcing a new window open, but we'll try this for a while and re-evaluate in the future. Thanks,
Shwa
I think opening a new target window is ideal in a forum such as this since many of the postings refer to source or citations. If MLW was heaving on the advertising, I would agree, but such as it is, the new target in links is a great feature and I thank you for making the change.
