No, you won't go on because you don't want to face or admit the complicity of your own nation in the very same kinds of actions.

That's why you get the label of "sanctimonious" and "smug".

Like our friend AW, you havent been paying attention. I have been extremely outspoken about the SOB's in Ottawa who have been lying to me about Afghanistan. I've been very outspoken about the asshole Minister who behaved badly (and sadly for her is married to a corrupt dope addict).

Believe me when I tell you I have a lot to be sanctimonious and smug about. At the moment, I'm ahead of you in that game. Perhaps one day when Canada starts an illegal war costing well over a trillion dollars that was borrowed from China, the shoe will be on the other foot.

I have the same access to the US media as you do.

Ummmmmm. I've already responded to that issue and won't be repeating it all over again for your benefit. You can either go back and read it ... or STFU and quit wasting my time.

Cheers. :)

Not here you haven't...and you forgot to mention Gulf War #1, Somalia, East Timor, Haiti, Kosovo, Balkans, etc.

You wear it well....stay smug while keeping up the bridge building for more trade with the evil Americans, taking our "blood money" for napalm, defoliants, depleted uranium, APCs, munitions components, etc., etc., etc.

What do you want to sell me today while condemning my country's policies? Shouldn't you be imposing sanctions....instead you are frantic to build another Bridge to HELL.

As they speak of increasing trade with China ......

Typical response when faced with the exact same domestic political corruption, regardless of scale. This "chump change" event contributed directly to the Grits demise.

It's not "the exact same". This was a case where no legislation was changed or initiated. It was simply a common kickback scheme. Now compare that to the pharmaceutical industry writing the law to reform government delivery of pharmaceuticals to the elderly - paying millions to key congressmen and senators, then when it passes, rewarding their congressional point man with a multimillion dollar salary as he quickly quit and went to work for them DIRECTLY.

You didn't expect anything different, did you? Just like there's been complete silence regarding the U.S. having paid Canada's share of the Port Huron-Sarnia bridge.

I'm not even sure why you raised that. Who cares? What possible relevence do you belive it makes? What point do you believe it contributed?

It's always "different/not as bad" when it's not the U.S.,

It's different when it's DIFFERENT.

and there's complete silence from the same crowd when there's nothing to criticize. Heaven forbid these people should ever give the U.S. credit for anything.

Right. Because I'm forever criticising the US, right?

Thats not true. Tea partiers are generally more educated, higher income people than the norm.

If that's true that is a sad indictment on America. The tea bagger strike me as a bunch of mouth-breathing simpletons.

That's the entire point....there was no "legislation" at all...who needs that when party corruption can get the job done without it. I'll take the American form of corruption anyday....such people actually get prosecuted and imprisoned.

Riiight. The majority of the members of your congress and senate are corrupt - in that they sell their votes and influence to big money - and I can't recall a regular parade of them going anywhere but into the million dollar a year ranks of lobbyists.

Wow, all this forum heat from a news item that barely made it through the 24 hr cycle.

I don't think most of it has as much to do with the bridge so much as it does with ugly-american syndrome often exhibted by two individuals here.

Not in this thread perhaps but then this thread isnt about that stuff. What in Hell does Gulf war #1 have anything to do with the price of eggs?

Ummmm....killing Iraqis for "human rights" fun and profit....Canada can't resist that kind of "action".

If you need to ask that question, there are only two possibilities:

1) You didn't read the thread, in which case my advice to you is to know what's what before mouthing off.

2) You're not the brightest crayon in the box, in which case I can't help you. ;)

You forgot 3) you raised an irrelevent point because you don't even know what it is you're arguing about.

You do have a history, after all, of inserting yourself in every possible topic, bringing up some obscure point no one much cares about, and then arguing it to death, until everyone saner gets bored with you and goes away.

Wow, you guys all this over a bridge? Just remember, in the future, if our Fed. governments try ever to bring Canada and the United States together as one, fight THEM not each other, ok?

Typical "I can't refute what you had to say, but I can't stop myself from replying anyway" response.

Hopefully, though, you're a *cough* 'man' of your word, and you're now going to go away.... B)

I imagine you must find it typical as much of what you have to say is meaningless twaddle.

While you are boring and your comments are pretty much pointless - as usual - it is a boring night anyway.
