Tron Legacy

I recall watching Tron as a kid when it came out in the 80s. I was blown away by the movie, the virtual world. Sure it was a Disney movie, but wow what a movie. And now we have Tron Legacy coming to theaters soon. I used to try to build the tanks and the defenders out of Lego when I was a kid. I did have an all red and all blue one.

http://www.program-glitch-esc.net/ HD trailer here. It seems like there is quality to the movie. Like it does not feel like a typical Disney movie. Unless it is a different market they are after.

I must admit I am a little more excited to know that Daft Punk is doing the soundtrack for the movie. And yeah, you can tell it's there style.

Who can forget?

I played Da Funk one night at a new years party. Crowd was a little older to appreciate or like Daft Punk. But it went over well and people were loving it. If it was not for Bangalter and Homem-Christo being Daft Punk when they did, house music was on it's death bed. These guys almost on their own resurrected house and brought electronic music into a new era.

I can say that I am more excited for the music than the movie itself, and I am quite excited to see this movie.

They're (Daft Punk) sorta pioneers of the 'new' electronic dance era...

But really...it goes back further...

Of course it goes back further. And of course they are pioneers of the new electronic music for a new era It's why I stated they essentially resurrected electronic music.

I loved the video for Da Funk when it came out. It really opened my eyes. I felt really bad for the talking dog. He just wanted to connect with people, but he never did, because everybody was racist against talking dogs.

But you are ok now right?

Now that I'm older ... I'm starting to wonder if I'm racist against talking dogs myself. I mean, he probably brought most of his trouble on himself with his stupid boombox. If he'd just left his boombox at home, people probably would have been nicer to him.

They don't like to be in the public as themselves when being Daft Punk. Not many photos of them around without the masks/suits. I really like their philosophy when it comes to the music and how they do things. You make never know exactly WHO Daft Punk is, but when they are on stage you just know it's them.

And I think my fave of Homework is Burning.

There is a good documentary on house music on Youtube. Made in 2000.

Part 1:

Click on the user and all the other 7 parts should show up. Worth watching to see how a genre is born.

Thanks!!! This is awesome stuff. It's nice to see a humble Van Dyke talking about the early days and how he was influenced. I will check out the others.
