Oleg Bach Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 Both you and eyeball seem hung-up on race. Haiti has been around a lot longer than Canada yet can't get its shit together. Across the water, Jamacia looms as another island country made up mainly of former slaves; a tourist mecca without many of the problems associated with Haiti. Yet the evil forces of white colonial European-ness leave Jamacia alone. Odd...don't you think? If it's all about 'black people' having countries, that is... Not hung up on race. Might be hung up on paying a person properly for the service provided. Nothing good ever comes from slavery. Look at our dependence on what for the most part is slave labour in China and else where. JAMACIA! If I wanted a vaction I might be better off to set up a hammock at the end of the Jane and Finch corridor.. What I believe the problem to be is culture destruction and eventual abandonment of a labour force that is no longer a lucrative venture. Haiti once it proved useless to the colonialist..they simply dumped the eccess slaves and left..leaving a culture to develope from scratch. There is another example of the rich jettisoning to expensive to keep slaves...the migration of Mexicans into the states. Quote

Oleg Bach Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 This is the same situation that is taking place with our white slaves that were in the automotive industry. The master made a lot of cash and retired - In fact he took some bail out money and promised to continue to employ and deploy the slaves - but just like American bankers who took stimulus money - These guys want just enough to live well for the balance of their lives...and fu*k the help. Don't care how it played out and don't care about the circumstances..and the intrigues along with your justifications. It is a simple matter..a group of white guys go to a nation - they make a deal with the black royality to buy a whole lot of human beings..that they can use to generate great wealth though free labour...finally the plan goes bad...and some guy screwing the black maid and his own illigitmate son gets murdered in his bed...I guess that might be a form of justice...How would you like it if someone came and took your family in the middle of the night and you found yourself digging a ditch till you were old and dropped? That's not how Haiti started. French pirates started settlements and it grew from there. There were NO blacks on the island at that time. Later, both Spain and France started bring in slaves to Hispaniola when sugar cane and tobacco started to be cultivated. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

I am a man who puts a lot of effort into life and society - who bears a lot of burdens for a lot of thankless people. A person that no longer is renumerated for any effort. I really don't have any debts nor do I have any property other than some art work an instrument or two and the clothes on my back. I AM A SLAVE. Quote
eyeball Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) Independent Haiti started with a devastated economy and infrastructure as well as the hostility of much of the rest of the world's rulers. The U.S. and Europe isolated Haiti. Soon it was an era of gunboat diplomacy, with Germany, France, England and the U.S. sending ships into Haitian waters to enforce their demands.Story Haiti was singled out for special abuse because it was the first black republic that declared independence following a slave revolt and it's never had a chance to recover from that abuse since. That is why it was so vulnerable to so much widespread destruction and is unable to cope with it. Plain and simple. It is people that bless people and not God. Those who say "God Bless" usually do no blessing of their own...Haiti was cursed not by God but by evil people who starved the place into hell..then and now. Haitian Voodou and Roman Catholicism are forever intertwined. Bondye is actually slang for 'good God'. It bears little resemblance to the original Bakongo African version. The closest forms to it are New Orleans Voodoo and Santeria-Lukumi...all remade New World religions from traditional ones carried over by the slaves. France's 'Code Noir' forbade any other religions besides Roman Catholicism. While this did apply to Voodou is was more purposefully aimed at the Protestant competition in the Caribbean: the Dutch and the British. The practitioners of Voodou sidestepped this by adding elements of the RC church to their old Kongo religions. New Orleans Voodoo resulted from the Creole diaspora from Haiti, btw. Fleeing for their lives during and after the Slave Revolt. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

Oleg Bach Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 B C Reminded me how our former Prime Minister Martin sent in some invading Canadians. What is important about this topic is slavery..we really do not realize that slavery is growing again and it is not just blacks that are the victims..If we do not protect blacks from the ill effects of being slaves at one time - we might be next in line - Those involved in the modern slave trade corporate and other wise do not discriminate between black and white..white slaves fit the bill these days also. If we do not get to the core of how and why Haiti failed utterly as a nation...then as they say - then they came for me"> Quote

DogOnPorch Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 The red flags should go up immediately when the UN make people like Bush and Clinton special envoys. The UN can suck it. However that doesn't change the fact that Canadian troops were sent to Haiti with the UN's okie-dokie...twice in the past. We didn't "invade". As for two former US Presidents being envoys...who would you have prefered? Chavez and Ahmedinnerjacket? I'd rather the two Presidents on the case. Thanks. The UN is NOT a world government nor do they have any real legitmate authority over sovereign nations. Just because a person is a former US president does not make him an honourable or respectable person. Clinton is a certified liar no matter how sweetly he coos into the camera...He still has a crimminal past..and Bush is a certified invading fraud that pilaged and rocked Iraq right back into the stone age, destroying the most ancient culture on earth..out of sheer spite and madness...YOU would think that the UN...could find some respectable people to represent them during a time of human crisis..Bush did not do well at New Orleans...and Clinton did not do well keeping his dick in his pants when it came to abuse of power.
