The analogy fails not because of the girl's beliefs but because her actions in buying the birth control don't affect me. Therefore, what business do I have telling her what to do or not to do.

Do you understand now ?

Sort of.

Dr. Suzuki can preach to me until he's blue in the face, but that's not going to change how I live my life, the same for the girl in my example. However, she is going through the motions of trying to get me to change as is "the left".

I have no business of telling Dr. Suzuki how to live his life, but if he is going to yak at me to change mine, he better be walking the walk. Same goes for the bible thumper, if she wants kids to abstain from sex, she shouldn't be going to buy birth control so she doesn't get pregnant from the youth pastor.

Right...this point seems to be lost on the Suzuki flock. He has no right to demand such expectations of others anymore than we would have....regardless of his own personal convictions.

Look - here's YOUR analogy:

If you want to play that game, then would you be berating a born again Christian girl for wandering into the pharmacy to buy birth control even though she preaches abstinence?

My response is: nobody should berate the born-again Christian girl as its none of their business. If she challenges me and tells me not to buy birth control then I may say something about her lifestyle, yes.

Some may even say that she has no business telling people whether or not to use birth control, and that's where the analogy breaks down: reproduction rights are mostly personal whereas how you use the environment is not.

Got it now ?

Yes, I concur that that's their agenda.

So anybody that has two houses isn't allowed an opinion, or has no credibility to be respected?

Dave is okay, and he is right more often than not. Yes he is a lefty tree hugger but that is okay, we need those opinions heard as well. Besides the man makes many valid points.

What I'm getting into is going through the motions. Your right in your posts, but that's not what I'm getting at.

IMO both the christian girl and Suzuki et. al are going through the motions of telling us to change our lives while they do the opposite.

It's not whether reproduction rights affect other people (which doesn't) vs. environment (which does), it's that these people are telling us to do something and don't have the intestinal fortitude to back it up.

Ok. If I were discussing with the Christian girl, I would ask her to explain her actions. As such, I emailed Dr. Suzuki's foundation to see what the response would be.
