Are we going to be seeing a Liberal-Conservative coalition government?

It appears now we are facing a minority government siituation, and the Liberals and Conservatives are more similar than the Liberals and the NDP.

NDP, with the momentum, are only 8% back of the Cons.

The latest Compass poll had the Conservatives at 31%, Liberals at 39%, and NDP at about 17%. NDP are losing, and Jack Layton is'nt that good at debating, Canadian's will think he is a doofus.

The NDP will never ever be a party in power Federally. Never! They will have their tiny little corner of around 15-17% and that is it. They don't have the platform, they don't have the ideas. they don't have the management, they don't have the business background which is sorely needed to run a country, in short the NDP has nothing to offer other than three blind mice!

common, will the NDP overtake the conservatives in the first week of campaigning?

Its nice to see that some peopel here ahve wishfull thinking but there is a higher chance of a conservative majority government then the NDP being the official opposition. As for thsi momentum which i see alot of peopel talkign about lets look closely...

39 31 17 11

35 26 18 12

39 26 15 11

38 26 16 10

39 27 20 12

41 28 16

40 23 18 11

39 29 19 11

35 28 18 10

38 27 15 10

38 26 17 12

42 32 15 9

36 27 17 11

36 28 21 13

35 27 17 11

39 24 18 10

okay, hopefull you can figure otu which party is which.

Every single poll from the 14th of febuary is in there....so where is the momentum....

from febuary 14th, to now

Liberals: 39/39 even

Conservatives: 24/31 +7

NDP: 18/17 -1

Bloc: 10/11 +1

Now i ain't no expert but -1% doesn't seem like the kind of momentum I want going into an election. Oh yeah if you wondering the greens have stayed the same.

The Greens overtaking the NDP is more likely than then NDP coming within a few percentage points of the Conservatives. ;)

As for a Lieberal - Conservative coalition...

...never gonna happen.

If the Conservatives were in the position to form a minority governement, they would need to look at the BLOC for support to pass legislation. A formal coalition has already been ruled out.

Very interesting Slavik. Those numbers are proof of the +/-3 % margin of error.

The true population numbers could have stayed constant during this whole time:

Lib 38

CPC 28

NDP 28

... and all we're seeing is the sampling error. This is almost a textbook case.

The rise of the Greens in BC strikes me as much more important than where the NDP/CPC are in Quebec. The Greens may well supplant the NDP in the long run future.

The NDP vote will certainly go up in this election, but not enough to gain win in many ridings. One of the problems the NDP as is that its support is concontrated in certain areas of the country. In Ontario its in the city of Toronto, in British Columbia its in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island, Manitoba Winnipeg and the maritines in Halifax and the South shore. So while support may go up a few %'s point it will not translate into alot of seats. Its more of a possiblity that NDP votes will allow from the Conservatives to pick up more ridings in Ontario and Western Canada.

NDP overtaken the Conservatives: Never

NDP allowing the Conservatives to win alot more ridings: Yes

the NDP will certianly get alot of seats, I can see them gettign atleast 20. Which if you think about it is alot more then they got last election. But i don;t think any one, or rather most people expect the NDP to get 50 seats, it has really always been 20-30 seats. Of course in a recent article I saw them project 12-16 seats or somethign so.....
