Pliny Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 A token of what though? Things like buffaloes and other natural capital. You can have a natural ecosystem without a human economy but you cannot have it both ways. A token instead of money. A human economy is natural. A natural ecosystem is unnatural. I love people! They are smart. They make candles and perfume from whale blubber. They invent other things when whale blubber is no longer feasible. They burn fossil fuels and try to find better sources of energy. They make cities and roads and stores like Wall-Mart. Things are better if you like people. They are amazing! Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
Bonam Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Recovery from what? The so called "recession"? Even the "great depression" was only a tiny bump in the uninterrupted exponential growth of the economy. Oleg Bach Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 I'll never recover. Canada used me up and spit me out - now I am retired on 8000 a year...I have no way to go but up - but as I aged gravity becomes stronger than ambition. Quote

Bonam Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 People suffered through the great depression. People are always suffering. Worry about yourself and let these suffering masses worry about themselves too. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Took a world war to get out of the Great Depression". Another tiny bump. It was some sort of mental depression that sent us off to war...that did not come from an economic depression - what got us out of the great depression was to make the depressed rich happy by dying for them and granting the poor bastards relevance. Most if not all finacial collapses come from a certain class that gains great wealth - and passes that power down to their children - eventually they find out that the kids are not genetically predisposed to being like their forebarers and do not have the talent to manage the very complex and time consuming job of ruling the world - so they falter and take us down with them --- as BUSH did - when all else fail - have a war..cos' they are to stupid to think of anything else to raise us up. maple_leafs182 Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 People are always suffering. Thats the problem, its been thousands of years and we still have not learnt to care for each other. We should not make others suffer while a small percentage of the populations reaps all the benefits. I don't understand Societies mentality. bush_cheney2004 Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 ....I don't understand Societies mentality. Society's "mentality" is quite clear...you just don't agree with it. Different issue entirely. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
maple_leafs182 Posted February 21, 2010 Author Report Posted February 21, 2010 I really don't understand why we do the things we do. Can anyone tell me? bush_cheney2004 Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 I really don't understand why we do the things we do. Can anyone tell me? Because we want to....it's not complicated. For those who don't, righteous suffering is available at a monestery near you. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
