I was watching the 6 o'clock news yesterday and they showed 2 stories from the Lower Mainland of BC region. One was about cutbacks to parks in the city and Butchart gardens. Another was about a pet cemetary! There were actually idiots on TV whining about these so-called issues. Do they realize how foolish they looked? I just had to roll my eyes! I mean what a bunch of morons as there are more pressing issues in this world.

This is not moronic in the least. Pets are a billion dollar buisness..and people spend more on them than children. What do you expect them to report on? How we have a judical system that loves to release dangerous people to keep us on edge and defocused? Or maybe that America has totally lost sight of any sort of possible victory in Iraq or Afghanistan but is more than willing to waste more lives pushing the military industrial complex along - keeping a few elite wealthy while killing your son or enlisted daughter? Or maybe who the hell made all the money on the H1N1 vacines and could not even rip us off in full by delivering the full order of supposed medicine...or maybe Mulroney may have been in part responsible for buying miltiary equipment that is inferiour leading the deaths of our flowering youth stupid enough to "sacrafice" their sorry asses for rich people that lie?

OKAY I take back the comment on the pet graves! But as for the people complaining about Butchart Gardens and Parks  That was downright sickening to see! I mean really there are more pressing issues in this society than to watch a bunch of grown-ups whine about gardens and parks in a city

Griz - television news is about entertainment. For serious information and discussion come to MLW.

MLW is starting to look more like the monkey house every day and its just as hard to have a serious discussion here as it is in Parliament. As for the information you get here, its seriousness means less all the time and its a rare post when the veracity of a source isn't slagged right along with the person citing it, again just like in Parliament.

I was fairly convinced the anonymity of the Internet accounted for the incivility one encounters in just about any on-line political forum but now I fear this is becoming more deeply ingrained throughout society. Like rats in a cage I guess.

I disagree. I think it's all getting better, although how could you prove such a thing ?

Definitely this forum has a broader cross section of political views, and generally more polite than other forums we have seen.

Absolutely, Michael! If someone doesn't believe you, they should try a few posts over at "rabble.com". Frankly, I found it both juvenile and disgusting.

I liked Rabble, although as a forum founded for progressive debate it... "is NOT intended as a place where the basic and essential values of human rights, feminism, anti-racism, and labour rights are to be debated or refought."

So there's an element of preaching to the converted, since right-wing posters tend to not post there. I want to talk to a broader element than that.

There is a park by my place, next to the Jimmy Simpson community centre. The city put all sorts of plants and flowers in the big and grand beds. Then they vary the growth as the season changes - across the street is a real ugly instition of some sorts where the liberals do their harm reduction foolishness with the local drug addicts...What I want to say is the beauty that the city provides is desperately needed..to keep up the spirit of that part of the street - also some of the workers really enjoy their jobs and do it with full bodied soul...beauty is important..BAY STEET looks like a lifeless hell hole in summer - about time those chumps joined the human race also and got rid of the utlitarian mentality that is a danger to good people everywhere.

Pet cemetary? What happened when the son and dad would rap up the old mutt in a blanket and take the dog out to the woods and dig a hole... I guess people want a plaque and a cremational urn..and maybe some booties and a little coat and some place matts on the table and to cry and say "Boosie was a member of the family" - well if your dog is a member of the family bury the damned creature on grannies chest...

I agree; I find forums like that frankly boring.

I initially wanted to come here to unleash my Christian zeal upon the unbelievers and make the Right-of-Centre posters more socialistic in their thinking... it didn't work out.

You did well - Original Christian doctrine was the eccense of real socialism..You gave to charity because you wanted too..you were not forced to give tax dollars to support unsavroy codes of behaviour - That is the difference - at least Christian socialists had a choice - capitialist socialist have no choice..they are forced to pay tribute to any and all evil causes.
