a minute minority of a minority perhaps...

but clearly that cannot be said of Julianna.

I never said I admired any religious martyrs...

Spartans certainly weren't martyred for their beliefs... they we upright a noble sons of Europe. they fought with the heroism of our Great civilization.

Using slaves. Spartans couldn't do basic work. They were probably the cruelest and most backwards people at that time and that's saying a lot. The Persians who the Spartans fought with "heroism" were much more advanced in terms of human rights. You shouldn't believe everything you see in movies.

American Woman:

The challenge, though, is that you and I have a frame of reference to compare it to. We know a different life, we've lived a different life. So when we talk about what we would choose, we measure that life against the life we've always known, and of course it comes up short. But for Juliana and her parents, this is the life they have, and regardless of what we may or may not choose, they are choosing to try to give her the best life possible.

For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.

You have a crystal ball? A magic mirror? That crazy water mirror from LOTR? Unless you have some crazy device for seeing into thet future that claim has a much justification as the claim a meteor is going to strike and destroy the earth tommorow.

and you shouldn't believe everything you read in anti-western lie sheets.

The Spartans were a rational warrior society, that defended the beginning of our great civilization which created democracy and real human rights, and also conquered the moon and the vast void of space...

and yeah Turkey is a real paradise of "human rights" ever heard of "kurds"

You are probably one of those who think that oit was 300 against the Persians....guess again.

no I have a crystal brain that tells me that Julianna has NORMAL intelligence (as verified by the news segment) and hopelessly deformed gullet that makes her look like a cephalopod... as I said earlier

even if she ends up inventing the longer lasting light bulb that doesn't make this situation right.

You are confused. Sparta had nothing to do with Democracy, although they did defeat Athens....and installed a dictator.

sample of Julianna's journal

"Besides Juliana's favorite DVD's, the Signing Time series, she has one more favorite, "Monsters Inc.". She wants to watch it almost every night. So we thought she would really love the stuffed animal of the main character, Sulley. But she didn't want anything to do with stuffed Sulley. She wouldn't touch him or even look at him. She continued to love the Monster's Inc. DVD, so when she watched it I would point to Sulley on the screen and then to the Sulley doll. It took quite a while for it to "click" but one night she actulally touched the Sulley doll and signed "I love you"!

so her favorite movie is "monsters inc".

i won't comment on that.

they did, however democracy and philosophy would have ended with Athens were it not for Sparta (as well as other states) in the battle of Thermopyle

thread drift btw. lets try to get better at this.

So for you, the whole thing is about how she looks. If she doesn't conform to the Lictor standard of superficiality, she is a worthless human being.

PS, I notice she's white. In your twisted logic, I'm sure this is relevent, but you haven't brought it up yet. Perhaps your real issue here is that she is damaging to the white gene pool?

ahem, cough cough, pardon me... are you suggesting that the way julianna looks is "superficial"

again just so we're clear.

You are the one who said it doesn't matter what her intelligence is, as long as she looks like a cephalopod she is not worthy of living. That tells me you are only concerned with the outward appearance - hence the reference to "Lictor's standard of superficiality".

There were more slaves in Sparta than Spartans, the Spartans used slaves for everything they were useless for anything but fighting is it any wonder why there civilization ended? No one people can be said to have created democracy, it came about in multiple places before they were ever in contact with each other and Sparta was a oligarchy with some resmblance to a democracy, Athens was the democracy and it was only a partial one at that. Spartans no longer exsist. Even if you can trace your ancestors back to people from the Spartan culture who cares? The Spartan culture destoryed itself.

How is Modern day Turkey eqatable to the Persian empire?

apparently having no vocal chords, no lower jaw... being partially blind and hideously disfigured ... is "superficial"...

if only Julianna's doctors knew that... save a lot of trouble.

I'm quite certain that there never was such a person that changed water into wine, sired a virgin birth, walked on water, resurrected himself from the grave and was the son of this big poppa up in the clouds...

this is not an opinion, it is a fact... the same way that Santa Clause isn't real .... is also a fact.

Actually, Jesus did not "sire" the virgin birth, he was the product of the virgin birth.

Still, as a debater, if you cannot show proof, then you should express your OPINION as such.

There is a book several thousand pages deep, written by many men, which disagrees with you on this point.

There are countless millions of people worldwide who disagree with you on this point.

What makes your opinion more valid than theirs???

BTW, a couple months ago I watched Chris Angel walk across water on his tv show.

Many more people were there to watch him do it, live and in person.

On another episode, Angel pulled himself out of what looked for certain to be a snowy grave. He had been buried under tons of snow for nearly an hour.

Sure looked like resurrection to me.

Do you deny his existence, too???

Don't get me wrong, LICTOR, I am no Mr Canada, busting people chops with my religious agenda. I am actually agnostic in the truest sense, ie; I admit that I DO NOT KNOW the answers. I DO NOT KNOW if Jesus truly existed or not.

The fact is, neither do you.

The difference is you pretend you DO know.

And that can only hurt your credibility in a venue wherein debates are held.

I need another coffee

oh wow! boo hoo, and Spartans didn't even have affirmative action or black history month!

could you please be reasonable... this was in 500 BC... sorry they didn't have all the apparatus of a liberal democracy....

jeez...

Actually, the opposite is true. The doctors see beyond the outward appearance, and recognize that there is a person there, who is worthy of their time and effort. You would have them simply do away with her, because her appearance frightens you.

negative evidence is not evidence silly.

its impossible to show proof of something that never occurred...

yeah she's written up a 5.8 million dollar medical bill (and growing)...

too bad those same doctors couldn't find that same "time and effort" for all those dead kids who had treatable asthma, bad kidneys, and bad medical insurance...

unbelievable...

Sentanced to die because Leonidas was an idiot. Not like his sacrifice did anything, the Persians still got a year to sack cities like Athens.
