Guest TrueMetis Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) I never said I admired any religious martyrs... Spartans certainly weren't martyred for their beliefs... they we upright a noble sons of Europe. they fought with the heroism of our Great civilization. Using slaves. Spartans couldn't do basic work. They were probably the cruelest and most backwards people at that time and that's saying a lot. The Persians who the Spartans fought with "heroism" were much more advanced in terms of human rights. Melanie_ Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 American Woman: The challenge, though, is that you and I have a frame of reference to compare it to. We know a different life, we've lived a different life. So when we talk about what we would choose, we measure that life against the life we've always known, and of course it comes up short. But for Juliana and her parents, this is the life they have, and regardless of what we may or may not choose, they are choosing to try to give her the best life possible. lictor616 Posted October 29, 2009 Author Report Posted October 29, 2009 sample of Julianna's journal "Besides Juliana's favorite DVD's, the Signing Time series, she has one more favorite, "Monsters Inc.". She wants to watch it almost every night. So we thought she would really love the stuffed animal of the main character, Sulley. But she didn't want anything to do with stuffed Sulley. She wouldn't touch him or even look at him. She continued to love the Monster's Inc. DVD, so when she watched it I would point to Sulley on the screen and then to the Sulley doll. It took quite a while for it to "click" but one night she actulally touched the Sulley doll and signed "I love you"! so her favorite movie is "monsters inc". i won't comment on that. So for you, the whole thing is about how she looks. If she doesn't conform to the Lictor standard of superficiality, she is a worthless human being. PS, I notice she's white. In your twisted logic, I'm sure this is relevent, but you haven't brought it up yet. Perhaps your real issue here is that she is damaging to the white gene pool? You are the one who said it doesn't matter what her intelligence is, as long as she looks like a cephalopod she is not worthy of living. That tells me you are only concerned with the outward appearance - hence the reference to "Lictor's standard of superficiality". PocketRocket Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 I'm quite certain that there never was such a person that changed water into wine, sired a virgin birth, walked on water, resurrected himself from the grave and was the son of this big poppa up in the clouds... this is not an opinion, it is a fact... the same way that Santa Clause isn't real .... is also a fact. Actually, Jesus did not "sire" the virgin birth, he was the product of the virgin birth. Still, as a debater, if you cannot show proof, then you should express your OPINION as such. There is a book several thousand pages deep, written by many men, which disagrees with you on this point. There are countless millions of people worldwide who disagree with you on this point. What makes your opinion more valid than theirs??? BTW, a couple months ago I watched Chris Angel walk across water on his tv show. Many more people were there to watch him do it, live and in person. On another episode, Angel pulled himself out of what looked for certain to be a snowy grave. He had been buried under tons of snow for nearly an hour. Sure looked like resurrection to me. Do you deny his existence, too??? Don't get me wrong, LICTOR, I am no Mr Canada, busting people chops with my religious agenda. I am actually agnostic in the truest sense, ie; I admit that I DO NOT KNOW the answers. I DO NOT KNOW if Jesus truly existed or not. The fact is, neither do you. The difference is you pretend you DO know. And that can only hurt your credibility in a venue wherein debates are held. Quote I need another coffee
