Michael Hardner Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 EnglishRussia.com From these posters, it seems that US deployment of missiles was the most prominent feature of propaganda. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Michael Hardner Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 I find it interesting to discover which aspects of NATO policy were touted as being egregious to the people of the USSR. That's all. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Catallaxy Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 NATO's Image in Soviet Union NATO was "the enemy" according to official domestic policy, within the Iron Curtain countries. The rhetoric was that the Iron Curtain was necessary, in order to keep the Capitalist hordes out, otherwise they would invade and destroy, their revered Socialism. This was taught, in schools and constantly broadcast, on their mass media. Just imagine our Red Scare, on steroids and continuing, indefinitely, without any objections, what-so-ever. If you objected to anything, in the media, you ran the risk of being labelled "Dissident" and could subsequently be sent to a Gulag concentration camp or death camp. Quote

Michael Hardner Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 Thanks. I remember also seeing North Vietnamese cartoons - however I can't find them on Youtube. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
DogOnPorch Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Thanks. I remember also seeing North Vietnamese cartoons - however I can't find them on Youtube. I'm also a fan of old posters. The internet has many good sites on the subject. Old Communist Chinese posters are still the most attractive if you ask me. Here's a few sites that might be interesting to some here... http://www.iisg.nl/landsberger/index.html (Chinese posters) http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/posters1.htm (National Socialist) http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/posters2.htm (National Socialist) http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/ddrposters.htm (East German) http://www.iisg.nl/exhibitions/chairman/sovintro.php (Soviet Russia) http://www.internationalposter.com/country...et-posters.aspx (Soviet Russia) http://www.psywarrior.com/VCLeafletsProp.html (North Viet-Nam) http://www.the-forum.com/posters/WARPOST1.HTM (The Great War) http://www.the-forum.com/posters/WARPOST2.HTM (The Great War) http://www.the-forum.com/posters/WARPOST3.HTM (WW2) http://www.library.northwestern.edu/govinf...s/wwii-posters/ (WW2) Other cool items were things like cigarette cards, post-cards and, of course, stamps.
