Radsickle
The Governor General often makes me proud. It's refreshing to see leadership without politics....and with such style. Hooeh to that! Like Canadian Banking Regulations, Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin decided on the GG correctly, eh?
Hydraboss
Yea, Man. Just like Nam!Hydra, please... take as many Albertans who think like you and.... seperate... from Canada, as soon as possible. The GG is Commander-in-Chief of our armed forces. She has a duty to visit Afghanistan and support her troops. She is an expensive, useless figurehead representing an even more expensive, useless figurehead. If people like you wouldn't starve if Alberta took it's money and resources and left, we would stand a chance of being able to separate. Don't worry, you can keep the GG and lil' Omar. Smallc
She is an expensive, useless figurehead representing an even more expensive, useless figurehead. And almost nothing in this country can happen without her signature. She is part of the responsible government system that has allowed Canada, and Alberta within it to prosper for over 140 years and long into the future. Ignorance is bliss I suppose. I hope that I don't eventually come to see everything in terms of immediate dollars and cents. Edited September 12, 2009 by Smallc

Smallc
I pay a great deal in taxes thank you very much. It makes me all the more proud of the institutions and programs that I pay for.

Smallc
I pay those too. I'm not going to shun our acting head of state because she costs me a bit less than a dollar a year. Hydraboss
Congratulations on the new turn of events! It wasn't that long ago you said you were still a student (and student-teacher) and weren't paying income taxes. Welcome to citizenship. Moonlight Graham
The GG is a good morale boost for the troops over there. But the mission is still doomed to fail if they keep focusing on a military solution like they have. The GG is just echoing the company line. Argus
I would expect that if she has nothing good to say she would keep her mouth closed. I also believe her words are heart felt and honest and are entirely hers. She has demonstrated, over the course of this war, her attachment to military families and soldiers which goes far above what would have been required of her office. She is there for every body which comes home, and certainly no one ever told her that was a part of her job. She has enormously exceeded my expectations of her when she was first appointed, and as far as I'm concerned, barring some shocking misstep, she ought to keep the job permanently. I agree 110% with the first part bit since I hope to be GG next year, not the second...
Smallc
Haha....I wonder who the GG will be if she doesn't get an extension? By convention, it'll be an anglo, but I wonder who....

g_bambino
Here and here are some pictures of the visit. I appreciate that Jean has returned to the practice of donning military uniform when at related events. Sometimes she looks almost, kind of... hot. The skirt version would be better, though.
