dub Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) The UK has revoked five export licences for equipment to the Israeli navy because of actions during Israel's Operation Cast Lead in Gaza this year. The British Foreign office said the exports would now contravene its criteria for arms sales, but denied that it had imposed a partial embargo. The UK says it does not sell weapons which might be used for internal repression or external aggression. ... The British government has been challenged by human rights groups and members of the UK parliament over concerns raised by Amnesty International that British-made equipment was used illegally in Gaza. ... On Monday, the Foreign Office said in a statement that it had conducted the review, and found "in a small number of cases Israeli action in Cast Lead would result in the export of those goods now contravening the… criteria". KrustyKidd Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 BBCit's a start. Yep. When is the cancellation of rockets for Hamas from tin pot dictatorships and radical regimes going to occur? Before you have your victory parade, remember, the less ability to enforce their safety th Israelis have, the more deadly and draconian the actions will be. In short, you are rooting for Palestinian deaths. Quote We're Paratroopers Lieutenant. We're supposed to be surrounded - CPT Richard Winters

M.Dancer Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 it's not 'alleged' that israel shot missiles at buildings Did the building cry? Buildings do not have universal protection under the GC. it's not 'alleged' that israel has forced a blockade on gaza Blockades are not war crimes. it's not 'alleged' that israel killed hundreds of children Innocent lives lost are aways regretable, but covered and legal under the GC it's not 'alleged' that israel fired WP illegally. all those things happened. Actually it is alledged. It has not been proven in court and I doubt it ever will. It the plaintiffs have the same shoddy grasp of the law, it won't clear the discovery stage. M.Dancer Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 BBC No surprises that the article says nothing about war crimes being the reason for the canselation of the contracts. I bet Dub nearly wet himself in glee misreading the article. We do not grant export licences where there is a clear risk that arms will be used for external aggression or internal repression," it said. none of which are war crimes.
