So then, if we brought over two hundred million more people we would benefit even more? .

Since we're not doing that, there's absolutely no point to answering.

It is not ridiculous at all to envision a circumstance - say global ecological problems that are on the verge of triggering a global nuclear war – where we may have to propose doing that.

What a dumb, senseless statement.

Currently the U.S. is implementing protectionist policies, 'buy American' and already Canadian mayors are threatening retaliation to shut out U.S. bidders from local contracts.

WHISTLER, B.C. - Canadian municipalities hope they are helping the federal government make a case against the Obama Administration's "Buy American" policy, passing a resolution Saturday that would potentially shut out U.S. bidders from city contracts.

O-O-O-O, I bet the yanks are shaking in their boots.

This is what happens when Canada's trade is so dependent on a single country (U.S.) and things begin to crumble.

More immigrants in this country simply means a quicker road to economic disaster when Canadian trade is so dependent on a single country and starts to fail for whatever reason.

Though Japan, in spite of being among the most ethnically homogeneous societies in the world, has three major ethnic groups, including Koreans and Ainu.

and the Ainu were the original inhabitants and now like our natives at the bottom of Japanese society, and the Koreans cannot ever gain Japanese citizenship...

unless you're proposing completely overhauling our economic system cutting off immigration will destroy our economy....

More non-American immigrants means a quicker road to developing alternative (economic) interdependencies with the rest of the world.

Drivel. There's precious little evidence immigration helps our economy at all.

Immigrants want to feel useful.

...and I want to feel rich, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen. Everyone wants something. I would love to know if there are hard numbers that prove that immigration is financial benefit or detriment to Canada. Anyone?

With your mindset, I would search for numbers all by myself.

I have, and can't find credible numbers to support either.

With your mindset, how can I trust you!?

Never asked you to. I simply said that I can't find credible numbers. If you can, feel free to post them.

how simple does it have to be to understand....our economy like the USA's and many others is built on the premis of unlimited population GROWTH, without immigration there is no growth, no demand for housing, no demand for new cars, the economy stagnates...

Our economy like the USA's and many others is built on the premise of unlimited ECONOMIC GROWTH, without immigration there is growth by having people buying several houses, cars, etc.

That whole growth concept seems to result in boom and bust cycles, there are a little annoying.

If rich countries' populations would pay poor countries' populations to stay where they are born, there would not be any money left to finance ecologically-destructive economic booms.

So you're in favor of Canadians paying poor countries not to immigrate to Canada?

The general moral principle is that people who have direct and exclusive access to a natural resource have to compensate those without such access.

They don't have access to their own resourse (wealth) because we here with our "moral principles" have denied them access by stealing what is rightfully theirs! You can not have access to somthing that goes missing though theft.

Same thing, if a population wants exclusive access to a resource, it has to compensate all potential stealers.

That's called bribing the wolves - I used to say to my friends..the purpose of money for the most part is to bribe ----imagine you are sitting in your home - you are surrounded by vicious monkeys or wolves...you have a bunch of bannanas and you toss them out to keep the dumb predators from eating you - that's what money is - but when used properly it is a lubricant and very helpful. I have always said as far as the Palistinian crisis - IF - the world had sent the same amount of aid to Palistine are they did Israel - Palistine would not have been debased to a slave master relationship.....and Hamas would not exist - bribery must be done tactfully and with intelligence.

Canada’s welfare system relies on a highly progressive personal income structure and provides universally accessible free government benefits. Because of the low incomes of immigrants, this system has resulted in substantial net transfers of taxpayers’ money from Canadians to the recent immigrants. These costs are estimated to be $1.4 billion in the year 2000 for the cohort of immigrants that arrived in 1990. For all of the immigrants who arrived during the 13 years before 2003, the cost in 2002 alone is estimated to be $18.3 billion. Such costs have also been noted in Europe’s Nordic states, which are known for the pervasiveness of their state welfare systems. Observers there note that the welfare state is incompatible with mass immigration and policies are enacted to curb the latter.

That's called auctioning off natural resources to the most efficient users. Good money is money that can be imagined coming out of this original auction.
