August1991 Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 We in Canada may believe in multiculturalism but the outside world doesn't. The outside world recognizes the difference between "Canadians" and "immigrants". In the Middle East, this guy would be a Syrian with a Canadian passport. Has anyone seen any report of a ransom payment? That strikes me as the main motivation of the kidnapping. Quote
maplesyrup Posted April 17, 2004 Author Report Posted April 17, 2004 Fadel arrives safely in Jordan There were a bunch of foreigners kidnapped recently in Iraq. It seems that the purpose was to try and get their respective country's troops or out of Iraq, or if not troops, to get their respective countries to stop supporting the US in Iraq. maplesyrup Posted April 19, 2004 Author Report Posted April 19, 2004 Freed hostage says abduction not random It did not matter what his nationality was because their aims were for personal gains. "They said they were negotiating to exchange me for money or for prisoners," Mr. Fadel said. Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know.
