Shady Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 My guess is that we would not be in deficit. Really? And how would the 3 stooges have stopped the world economic slowdown and the resulting falling government revenues? Especially with their laundry list of so-called "under-funded" programs. You're a political hack. Stop embarassing yourself. Quote
jdobbin Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 You're a political hack. Stop embarassing yourself. Oh please. Your parties on both sides of the border are struggling in ways that must make you very frustrated. Your party is the one that has taken Canada back into deficit. Own it. The Liberals left a healthy surplus when they left office and good prospects for a future government. Your party has blown it and all you can do is blame others for your overspending and deficits. The Liberals left a healthy surplus when they left office and good prospects for a future government. Your party has blown it and all you can do is blame others for your overspending and deficits. I'm sorry, but you're being completely disingenuous when you claim that Canada wouldn't be running a deficit under Liberal leadership. I specifically asked you how the 3 stooges would have stopped the world economic collapse, and you've given no answers. Instead, you stick to your claim that magically, the Liberals would make up for drastic drops in government revenue, due to a diving world economy with a quick wave of their magic wand. Canada relies heavily on exports for it's ecnomic prosperity. America is Canada's number one trading partner. So I'll ask you once again. Exactly how would the 3 stooges make up for the collapse of the American financial system, and the severe recession that resulted? And not only that, but how would the 3 stooges pass a strong ecnomic stimulus bill, without running even a dollar deficit? After all, it was the so-called worried Liberals, and NDP, that came together to try and oust the Conservatives because they weren't focusing on econmic stimulus the way America was. Not only that, but the Liberals backed the $40 billion dollar stimulus, and Ignatieff contends that there needs to be a second roung of stimulus, similar to the first. DID YOU HEAR THAT? The Liberals backed the $40 billion dollar stimulus package. Canada Needs Second Round of Stimulus, Ignatieff Says Bloomberg So please, please tell us all, show us all, add the numbers up yourself. How the Liberals support close to $100 billion dollars worth of stimulus, yet you claim they wouldn't run a deficit! Stop talking out of your ass. Quote
jdobbin Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 (edited) I'm sorry, but you're being completely disingenuous when you claim that Canada wouldn't be running a deficit under Liberal leadership. I specifically asked you how the 3 stooges would have stopped the world economic collapse, and you've given no answers. Actually, I have. Did you not read it? I can't help it if you won't read answers. The Parliamentary Budget Officer has attributed the deficit to a shortfall in revenue as a result of the ill considered GST cut. Ian Brodie himself is saying that it might not have been the best cut to make. Also, I know how you love to use names, but please try to follow forum rules on insults. And not only that, but how would the 3 stooges pass a strong ecnomic stimulus bill, without running even a dollar deficit? Probably since the Opposition was against the GST cut but the Tories wanted to proceed with it anyway. So please, please tell us all, show us all, add the numbers up yourself. I have and based on not following through with Harper tax cuts and spending plans, the Liberals would not have gone into deficit. Why has your party gone into deficit? Are you blaming the Liberals entirely as you usually do? Are you blaming them for the GST cut? The spending past their promises every budget? Stop talking out of your ass. Stop acting like one as you flout the rules on namecalling. Edited April 4, 2009 by jdobbin Quote
August1991 Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 They cut as I have pointed out to you through various links. They throttled back spending. Martin spent for two years but was more cautious when it came to tax cuts. He did cut more than than Harper did in his first two budgets but still managed to have a lot of room to avoid deficit in 2009.Martin and Chretien at most kept government spending constant during a time when the economy was growing.Dobbin, what is terrifying, is that Martin earned a reputation in the MSM as a right-wing, neo-con hard-ass. In fact, Martin simply kept State spending in line. Politicians in Ottawa often use the word "Canada" to describe their work, as if they own Canada. Stephen Harper does not own Canada. Quote
jdobbin Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Martin and Chretien at most kept government spending constant during a time when the economy was growing. As you have been shown many times, government spending was actually reduced and while other countries went into deficit, Canada was able to stay out of it even during some rough patches Dobbin, what is terrifying, is that Martin earned a reputation in the MSM as a right-wing, neo-con hard-ass. In fact, Martin simply kept State spending in line. Martin earned a reputation as the man who said he would do what it took to end the deficit. Canadians will be looking for that type of person again. Quote
