The American Legion Strongly Opposed to President's Plan to Charge Wounded Heroes for Treatment

WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, "This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ' to care for him who shall have borne the battle' given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America's veterans!"

AP

I gotta believe there's no way Obama can follow through with this plan. It's more toxic then AIG bailout bonuses. But if he does, then God help him, because his political career is over.

Where has everybody been? I use to listen to alernative broadcast on short wave ( call me old ) - but I heard reports from six years ago about charging wounded service men for the flight home - and for their meals while they lay in hospitial nursing a couple of stubs where legs used to be. Cheney is a corporate - He waged war as if it were a buisness that you profited by - seems like nothing has changed. Great - enlist and become not a soldier but a damned customer. Twisted twisted twisted and no one noticed? I have been aware of these goings on for some time - now those that called me a crazy conspiratorial theorists can read about it in the mainstream media...but you are to late.

It will not be over - Bush and Cheney did this and the nation stupidly accepted it.

It may have happened, on the odd occasion pertaining to a flight home, but it wasn't government policy. Barack Obama wants to make military personel pay for their own treatment. So ol'Barack can send 17,000 more troops to Afghanistan, but if they're injured there, they foot the bill for their medical care. Huh? Where's the freaking outrage? Come'on forum Obama defenders, defend your Messiah!

It will not be over - Bush and Cheney did this and the nation stupidly accepted it.

It has nothing to do with Bush and Cheney. They didn't change government policy. They didn't propose soldiers pay for their medical treatment. The days of the Bush/Cheney boogeyman are over. President Obama is responsible for this fiasco of a policy change, nobody else.

Come'on people, defend your Messiah!

Er, ok. So, let me get this straight.

You are arguing FOR government funded public health care and AGAINST using private insurance?

Apply liberally to affected area.

What a great way to make money. Who said war was not a buisness! Send thousands off to get injured and then they come home and you heal them at a cost - This reminds me of the person that sets fire to the theatre..then screams fire (terror) - THEN sets up shop out side of the burned out building, selling bandages and morphine and real expensive skin graft treatments ---- finally you know..these people have a new commodity - a new crop to sell - they now produce human beings and they are now the new crop...social auto-cannibalism - America has taken to eating flesh - It's own ----what's next? Eating their own young? oooooops - they already do that - stem cell from an aborted fetus anyone? - they are tastey.

Yeah, and I was able to get Jon Stewart to repeat my "lie."

Video: Jon Stewart rips Obama on wounded-vet policy

STEWART: You know the veterans? The men and women who risk their lives defending our country? They’re about yay tall, wear green… sometimes tan. They’re this brave. Well, when they get injured, you know who foots the bill? You. The taxpayer. It’s incredibly… fair.

That’s why it struck me as a little odd when I read that one of the money saving proposals from the Obama administration was to remove veterans with private insurance plans from the V.A. rolls. So I guess what the government is saying is that if you still need a little rehab after you got that leg blown off in Iraq, the government will cover you! Unless your wife as a little COBRA left over from her substitute teaching gig. In that case, you’re going to have to go with her and the whole deductible thing. Unless, of course, your spouse is in Congress, and then you can get their sweet, sweet government plan.

I’ve got some other ideas they might want to try out to save a little money in the military. How about sponsored commendations? For your service, I offer you the Frito Lay Medal of Honor. Here’s another one… how about actual Navy seals? [A picture is shown of a Sea World seal with a sailor hat on.] People would totally pay to see that! Or how about the Arlington National Cemetery and Water Park?

WHAT THE F*&K ARE YOU GUYS THINKING!!??? Veterans having to use their private insurance to pay for their combat related injuries? THAT CAN’T BE RIGHT.

Yes, in the case of military personnel injured in war.

Yah saw what I haven't seen is anything linking this to the Whitehouse or any plan in anyway to put this in action. I haven't seen this written in any law. It is from one report from ONE KANSAS paper. That is why what the f*ck are you guys thinking file becuase it aint going to happen and it wasn't Obama's idea to do it. It is dumb idea and wont happen like I said try and make it stick it would becuase it wont happen.

Last time I checked Obama's plan was free public health care for all doesn't it strike you as odd he would suggest something like this? Yah the bells should be going off right now saying "wait a minute this guy wants everyone to have free health care by the end of next year this a stuipd article" But you wouldn't put two and two together.

Again Don't let facts get in your way.

Bush was recognized as just one of the "American" Presidents who have sent their drugged and enslaved soldiers all over the world to fight and die for Oil and Israel. Bush sent his gang of multiracial mercenaries to do his master's bidding under the flag of "anti-terrorism"

Obama will be no different. He will send his ugly and inglorious mongrel army into africa and the middle east under the flag of "humanitarianism" and "equality"... and the debased american people will applaud him and learn to worship their chains.

For some reason however, some still nourish a hope that the American slaves will finally revolt and condignly punish their domestic enemies and the traitors who serve them. Well, i wish them luck... but I wonder if they have not already passed the point of no return, and have only a Soviet style GULAG to look forward to.

I knew a hard working drunken carpenter who was so used to being a drudge - and so conditioned at taking abuse..that I had to sit him down and explain that the crazed and base wife he accepted as normal was actually beating the crap out of him - kind of a sex me slap me relationship...he figured it out ...but did he change his situation? No he did not...his motto was "better dan nuttin"...America and most of the western world - is like that..they take for normalacy what is abuse - because they have never known anything else.

Pondering that - I was reminded of the great Julius Evola and his invaluable "Civlita Americana" (http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/6824/evola.htm)

I quote the learned man:

"The Americans' 'open-mindedness,' which is sometimes cited in their favor, is the other side of their 'inner formlessness.' The same goes for their 'individualism.' Individualism and personality are not the same: the one belongs to the formless world of quantity, the other to the world of quality and hierarchy.... The American 'mind,' puerile and primitive, lacks characteristic form and is therefore open to every kind of standardisation.

"In a superior civilisation, as, for example, that of the Indo-Aryans, the being who is without characteristic form or caste (in the original meaning of that word), (1) not even that of servant or shudra, would emerge as a pariah. In this respect America is a society of pariahs. There is a role for pariahs. It is to be subjected to beings whose form and internal laws are precisely defined. Instead, the modern pariahs seek to become dominant themselves and to exercise their dominion over all the world."

"The typical American neither has spiritual dilemmas nor complications: he is a 'natural' joiner and conformist.

The primitive American mind can only superficially be compared to a young mind. The American mind is a feature of the regressive society to which I have already referred."

Evola wrote that after WW2... and a biographer tells us "We can only imagine what Evola would write if he were alive today to see the putrification of modern American society."

indeed... imagine!

Wasn't he the intellectually flirtatious fruitcake philosopher who floundered after the fall of fascism?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_Evola

here's another prophetic jewel

Evola continues:

"The American mind is a feature of the regressive society to which I have already referred. A most significant aspect of American mentality and its lack of refinement is the closeness of the American way of thinking in general to the negroid way of thinking in particular, not only in well-known examples, such as music, but in multifarious aspects of the mass psyche and in the proliferation of superstitions and religious sects of every kind, which thrive in the United States as they do in few other countries."

imagine if evola saw modern day snake worship or evangelical cults!

i was reminded of the jaw dropping documentary "Jesus Camp" ... of course Evola is precisely accurate.

N.S.A.’s intercepts exceed limits set by Congress

WASHINGTON - The National Security Agency intercepted private e-mail messages and phone calls of Americans in recent months on a scale that went beyond the broad legal limits established by Congress last year, government officials said in recent interviews.
