bush_cheney2004 Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 (edited) All the issues in a pre-visit nut shell: The scene: the Oval Office. The participants: Barack Obama, president of the United States and two senior advisers, Ret. Gen. James Jones, head of the National Security Council and former Harvard University president Larry Summers, director of the National Economic Council. The subject: why are we visiting Canada? "OK, General, catch me up. Why are we going to Ottawa this week?" "Mr. President, it's a neighbourhood story, to show we can manage things in our own near-abroad before we tell Putin or Pakistan or the Palestinians to work out their differences peacefully." "O.K. But we don't have much in the way of differences, do we? I hear they're all Democrats up there. They've had Hillary's national health plan for years." "That's right. But their prime minister is a right-wing guy. His people rooted for McCain." "So how'd he get elected if most people are like us?" http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/02/13/f-vp-kinsman.html Edited February 14, 2009 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Oleg Bach Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Interesting..Hillary the socialist who likes nice shoes --- is well liked by our lefties...and most of our people are left...so how did the left manage to elect a guy as Prime Minister that is right? Odd....my theory must be correct - that the high right manipulates the left and the left is really right being so far left. Facism of the most fancey and complex structure - don't you just love it. bush_cheney2004 Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 .....and most of our people are left...so how did the left manage to elect a guy as Prime Minister that is right? Vexing question indeed...all I know is that Canada goes ape shit whenever Ottawa gets too close or too far from Washington. Must be a Goldilocks Syndrome. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Oleg Bach Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Vexing question indeed...all I know is that Canada goes ape shit whenever Ottawa gets too close or too far from Washington. Must be a Goldilocks Syndrome. Get to close and they feel demasculated...get to far and they cry mummy mummy....actually it's all based on the Bay Street Syndrome. Buisness leaders are high dependant on America - they also feel inferiour to the Amercan corporate....and obliged...and they effect the Prime Ministership...always was that way...It was American money that established Canadian buisness and hence the chain of command that is Ottawa. bush_cheney2004 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 President Obama is rolling into town with security to the max. Busloads of worshippers would do better with watching television. Still can't find PM Harper's pitch on CNN's Situation Room. Maybe we'll get an apology for Muher Arar....nah! Smallc Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Still can't find PM Harper's pitch on CNN's Situation Room. The economy segment is on Youtube. I'd like to see the whole thing. I may not like Harper all of the time....but he does put on a good face for Canada. Very intelligent and competent. Quote

Right.....the video is available. Maybe it's just me, but why would the Prime Minister of Canada subject himself to such a pedestrian venue as CNN's "Situation Room", and in such close proximity to Lou "Xenophobe" Dobb's? Smallc Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Maybe it's just me I think it's just you. Where would you have him appear? Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 I think it's just you. Where would you have him appear? I don't think he should have "appeared" at all...doesn't he have a minister to do such things? It's Wolf Blitzer for Chrissakes! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Smallc Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 I don't think he should have "appeared" at all The President was on CBC. I really don't see the difference. As for Wolf Blitzer, he's one of CNNs top anchors. Quote

Smallc Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 CBC is state television If by state television you mean government funded public broadcaster, yes. top CNN anchor is an oxymoron. He and Anderson Cooper are their top people. It really doesn't matter if you like CNN or not. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 If by state television you mean government funded public broadcaster, yes. Yes.....all that and a bag of chips. He and Anderson Cooper are their top people. It really doesn't matter if you like CNN or not. Right....what I think doesn't matter, but audience share does. The interview was hard to find! Smallc Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) The interview was hard to find! I found it on youtube and google video. CNN and NBC get the best news ratings when it comes to recent events (Obama's election and Inauguration). Edited February 19, 2009 by Smallc Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 I found it on youtube and google video. But not CNN ? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Smallc Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 But not CNN ? The whole interview hasn't been released yet. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Yes.....all that and a bag of chips.Right....what I think doesn't matter, but audience share does. The interview was hard to find! For the demasculated feminized American liberal males who have a man crush on Anderson Cooper - curses...and that woman on CNN - I believe they finally removed her - You know the one with the deep dimple in her left cheek - that I swear looks like a second mouth talking..what the hell was that any way - and why did it take them five years to figure out she was a double talking literally with two yaps...I saw it...I guess they are not very aware of the optics concerning talking heads...The most Trusted name in news can not be trusted....media - are whores and the worst kind - the kind that believe they are not whores are the worst...at least honest whores adjust to the fact of what they are. So what are we talking about here anyway? Quote

Obama's interview probably had more media impact in Canada than PM Harper in the USA. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Smallc Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 It still doesn't translate because of the smaller market share. Smaller market share...but best rated on the market when it comes to news. Quote

Obama's interview probably had more media impact in Canada than PM Harper in the USA. PM who? - As you might know we are all equalist up here in the frozen hinter land....speaking of media - The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has always had a "no star policy" - that policy spreads like socialist fungus though this governmentally sponsored media giant - to all of Canada...so don't find it strange that Harper is not a star in the states - he is not a star here either --- we just don't allow stars to shine - or the best to rise to the top - It's Canada - an old British colony and they only star we have is on the money - that steely eyed woman - the Queen....Harper needs a royal gown and crown....and Obama needs a Michael Jackson glove and dance lessons. bush_cheney2004 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 Smaller market share...but best rated on the market when it comes to news. Not sure what that means for Harper's intended audience. It's a tiny fraction of American viewers. Saddam Hussein got much better ratings on CBS' 60 Minutes. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

On second thought, even that wouldn't help. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
