kuzadd Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 hah, I was wondering when someone was going to read the entire article. And as I scroll through, someone finally did. The author compares Ignatieff and Harper But he is aggressive, arrogant, and has demonstrated Machiavellian skills. I see him as a divisive and anti-democratic figure, much as Stephen Harper. cut from the same cloth. quite frankly, I am in complete agreement. difference being, Ignatieff, will be able to talk, he will dazzle Canadians with bullshit, in a much kinder and gentler way then Steven Harper , who is clearly incapable. He is the Obama to the Bush. But Ignatieff, like Harper is no friend to Canada. (both supported the Iraq war, both are too cozy with US interests) Anyone but Liberals and Conservatives Quote Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. It is okay to criticize a policy, decision, action or comment. Such criticism is part of healthy debate. It is not okay to criticize a person's character or directly insult them, regardless of their position or actions. Derogatory terms such as "loser", "idiot", etc are not permitted unless the context clearly implies that it is not serious. Rule of thumb: Play the ball, not the person (i.e. tackle the argument, not the person making it).
Oleg Bach Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Trudeau was a Machiavellian. These selfish idealogs cause a lot of damage. They really have no place in Canadian politics. Looks like we will have to put up with another egg head for a while...once they figure out that he holds humanity in cold arrogant contempt...he will go into exile - back south of the boarder where he belongs. Seriously a man that is that interested in power for the sake of self amuzement is off little use in the long run - Ignatieff will prove to be like a Trudeau - sharkish....and a person who will view the citizenry as lab rats....all should tell him how wonderful and smart he is and smother him in his own ego. Canadian Blue Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Anyone but Liberals and Conservatives Looks like an ABLC campaign in the next election, no? As I said before, I'm a libertarian conservative and I really wouldn't mind an Ignatieff government. He seems to be far more conservative than most previous Liberal leaders. Oleg Bach Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Conservative or neo-conservative - you had better figure out which one Iggy is - there is a difference. Quote
Mr.Canada Posted December 18, 2008 Author Report Posted December 18, 2008 I don't like the idea of a man living t he last three years in Canada t=only to become PM, no other reason. If he wasn't trying to be PM he would still be in the US or the UK where he's spent the last 30 years. 15 years ago he said he has no plan of ever returning to Canada. Perhaps you people view this as patriotic and showing support for ones country but I don't. The Canadian people are being played by Liberals falling over themselves to woo Ignatieff. It's disgusting. Remember Dion was well educated and Bob Rae is a Rhodes scholar like Bill Clinton. Education doesn't mean they an run a country. Ignatieff has ZERO exp. running anything or organizing anything so I doubt he's the savior you're all looking for sorry. Honest Abraham Lincoln was not an acedemic nor was he considered some sort of "intellectual" - people don't get it - You can have a string of letter behind your name saying you are intelligent and wise...but it sometimes does not mean a thing - all it means is that you are welcomed in the door because you have been processed and conditioned by the system...and Iggy is a typical institutionalized systems man who does not have and will never have an original idea of his own...he needs a play book - and it's probably "The Art Of War" - typical! eyeball Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 If Michael Ignatieff were to lead as a classical liberal instead of a welfare liberal, I would throw my support behind him. Its his social liberalism that will govern my reaction to his leadership of the center. I expect a lot of dithering on most things myself but isn't that what governing from the middle is mostly about? I'm reminded of the old safety meeting adage if nobody moves nobody gets hurt. I suspect conventional conservative Canadians will love him for that. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal

I'm sure they'll hate him because he's a little rich boy who has never worked a day in his life, spent his childhood with a silver spoon in his mouth and spent the last 30 years outside of Canada. The man is out of touch with everyday Canadians. Listen to him speak. He sounds as if he is scolding a child, speaking down to us. No thank you I don't need this "Canadian of convenience" telling me how to live my life. eyeball Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 No thank you I don't need this "Canadian of convenience" telling me how to live my life. Its wierd you should say that considering who you would likely vote for - a socially and morally conservative ideology that above all else is primarily interested in telling people how to live their lives. Argus Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 I wondered how long it would take Harper's propaganda machine to get into gear, the jury is in on that now. The tone and wording of the opinion piece make it quite clear the author is one of those "progressive" types who thinks Ignatieff is far too conservative. Quote "A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley

I vote for a man who has lived in Canada the last 30 years not some arrogant professor who has lived the last 30 years away from Canada. I don't blame you guys though. After Dion you'd support a packet of peanuts. Quote "You are scum for insinuating that isn't the case you snake." -William Ashley Canadian Immigration Reform Blog
