M.Dancer Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 The brief leap came after Statistics Canada disclosed that the nation's employers added about 107,000 jobs last month, although only about 10,000 of these were full-time.“You should have heard the gasps and oohs and ahs in the office this morning,” Steven Butler, director of foreign-exchange trading at Scotia Capital Inc. in Toronto said minutes after the announcement. “People were just shocked. The jobs were ... fantastic given what's going on. It's just a really, really healthy number for Canada.” However, Mr. Butler also correctly predicted that the job-creation figures would be quickly forgotten as currency traders and their clients got back to the business of liquidating their positions and trying to preserve capital in the global financial maelstrom. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...0/BNStory/Front What made manufacturing competitive was the low loon.
