Wilber Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 That was neat, the video not the aircraft. Layout looks pretty scatological. Did you get a load of the artificial horizon. Works the opposite of western horizons. Have you been to Duxford? Do if you ever get the chance. A must for any aircraft enthusiast and an heck of an armoured museum as well. Russian cockpits are weird. The Blinder was a bit of a 'bear' to fly, I understand. Yes re: Duxford...many centuri...errr...years ago. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

Wilber Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 (edited) Ormand Haydon Ballie's Sea Fury maybe? He was a Brit in the RCAF based at Cold Lake. He also had the Black Knight T-33. He was killed in the late seventies flying his P-51 in Germany. He was also a great scrounge. The Fury was painted by the CP Air paint shop in Vancouver and the Black Night by Wardair in Edmonton. Wilber Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 The Sea Fury was a beast. 2500 HP from the Centarus engine. It was one of the few (maybe the only) piston engined fighters to shoot down a Mig in Korea. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC

I was going to say the F-82 downed a few MiGs at the start of the war but it was just Yaks (first aircraft shot down in Korea mind you). Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
