Smallc Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Why the veiled insult jdobbin?I'm shocked. I don't know why my mentioning the oxymoron of Winnipeg and sexy brings out the insults from you. Are you defensive about Winnipeg? I mean with the -45 winters and the breathing apparatus's needed for the hordes of mosquitoes when it is not -45, where is the sexy? lol Please, let's have a civilized discussion and leave the personal insults out of it. Hey hey, there are very few Mosquitoes in summer now. I haven't seen any on the many trips to Winnipeg that I've taken this year. Quote
White Doors Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Hey hey, there are very few Mosquitoes in summer now. I haven't seen any on the many trips to Winnipeg that I've taken this year. Does the city of Winnipeg still have an annual budget for 'fogging' for mosquitos? 'nuff said. ps: In case you didn't know, that is NOT a normal city dept to have. jdobbin Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 Hey hey, there are very few Mosquitoes in summer now. I haven't seen any on the many trips to Winnipeg that I've taken this year. The story can divert to weather and geography as much as people want. That wasn't what was being judged. It was on how sexy people were as voted by other Canadians. I have no idea how all other cities ranked but I don know that some of the critics who takes shots at the city fell below Winnipeg in the sexy people rankings when their own cities were compared. They're still more or less gone in most Manitoba cities. Spraying is good....well....in some ways. Edited August 21, 2008 by Smallc Quote
White Doors Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 I'd like to work for the Winnipeg board of Tourism.. How's this for a motto? 'Winnipeg - Home of the Big Bite" ? Quote Those Dern Rednecks done outfoxed the left wing again.~blueblood~
blueblood Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 They're still more or less gone in most Manitoba cities. Spraying is good....well....in some ways. That would depend on the pesticide being used and application rate. That is a serious problem out there and I don't think they can solve it in Winnipeg without seriously upsetting the public. It would be easy to get rid of the bug problem, just evacuate the city and surrounding area for a couple of days and load up the spray planes with a double rate of Lorsban and go to town. Mosquito problem gone, dead animal carcasses; problem number 2. But try getting close to a million people to evacuate just for spraying. Looks like Winnipegers are going to have to live with the Mosquito problem. Does the Winnipeg area include this? http://www.recycle.nrcan.gc.ca/images/manitoba_map.jpg I'd say around 50-70 klicks around the city. The pop of MB is approx one million. I'll guess the wpg area is around 750K (close to a million in my book) Nicely done with the map of MB, lol Edited September 3, 2008 by blueblood Quote "Stop the Madness!!!" - Kevin O'Leary "Money is the ultimate scorecard of life!". - Kevin O'Leary Economic Left/Right: 4.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.77

Smallc Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Hence the word approx. Jeez, between your rounding up from 750K and your rounding down from 1.2M you've got just about a 500K window there of about 1M Quote

moderateamericain Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 Well, In order to better understand the difference between cities, I reccomend a joint effort funded 90 percent by Canada and 10 percent by me to travel to each city and check out and taste test a delicacy. At the end of said trip I will come back here and report my findings for you all. I like toronoto women. You get the variety there. Quote
RB Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 I travel to plenty of cities in Canada I like Montreal best and can even contemplate living there. Vancouver is great also, I feel that I can retire there as soon as possible. My kid said Ottawa was like cottage country and I kinda agree, but I vouch it must be the fittest city of all. Quote
