Argus Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Allow me to vent a little at the scene of Lebanon's leaders lining up to lay their lips on Samir Kantar's cheeks. From media reports this isn't simply a Hezbollah thing. No, all elements of Lebanese society are apparently overjoyed at the return of this baby killer, whose sole claim to fame was sneaking into Israel and murdering an innocent Israeli family. He used his rifle butt on the head of a four year old girl to take her out, and you don't get much more deliberate intent than that. And this is a hero to the Lebanese. Now I know there are all kinds of sociological reasons for the way the Lebanese are, for what their culture has become, but looking at them from afar, all I can feel is utter contempt. I feel contempt not merely for the leaders of Hezbollah, who made it his "life's mission" to bring Kantar home, not only contempt for the nation of Lebanon, one of the world's sorriest shit holes, but contempt for the entire people of Lebanon. What a pathetic collection of unwashed, backward barbarians and savages they must be, squatting in their half destroyed ruins and chanting to their make-believe god. Olmert demonstrates yet again what a pathetic, incompetent weakling he is by agreeing to this trade, which will only inspire more kidnappings (and murders since apparently Arabs aren't able to restrain their rabid eagerness to kill when in the proximity of a helpless Jew or westerner). Black Dog Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Now I know there are all kinds of sociological reasons for the way the Lebanese are, for what their culture has become, but looking at them from afar, all I can feel is utter contempt. Well, there's nothing like a well-informed opinion. And this is nothing like a well-informed opinion. Quote
DogOnPorch Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Well, there's nothing like a well-informed opinion. And this is nothing like a well-informed opinion. Well the parties concerned are parading around treating it like some sort of major victory. Plus the ratbag was quoted saying he'd love to do it all over again. Even Hassan Nasrallah crawled out of his hole to greet this wonderful man. That character has been 'unseen' for over a year (read: avoiding Israeli agents/missiles ). So quite the major event for this tiny country. I know we get a lot of respect for our praise for our child killers. Just the other day at the Clifford Olson parade I was pleased to see the mayor and the local MLAs out for the event. We all stood around and cheered then had a BBQ...[pause]...yeah...it does sound stupid when "we do it". ------------------------------------------------------ Murder is terribly exhausting. ---Albert Camus Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

Black Dog Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Well the parties concerned are parading around treating it like some sort of major victory. Fine, but it's a big leap to go from "how gross is that Lebanese politicians and Hizbullah are giving this shitbag a heroes welcome" to, well, this: What a pathetic collection of unwashed, backward barbarians and savages they must be, squatting in their half destroyed ruins and chanting to their make-believe god. By way of contrast, suppose one read this about the killing of an unarmed child and then heard about the botched investigation, subsequent acquittal, promotion of and reward paid to the killer (indicating official sanction of his actions) would one be justified in referring to Israelis as "backward barbarians and savages etc."? So by way of contrast, will the Lebanese investigate their child killer as the Israelis did? Will they chrage him albeit with minor ofenses as the Israelis did? Go to trail as the Israelis did? Or we they just skip that and give him a medal, by way of contrast? By way of contrast, how did the POS 4 year old victim wander into a no go zone? Right, she didn't, by way of contrast. And by way of contrast, how many children strapped with bombs have the Israelis tried to infiltrate and detonate on the lebanese? By way of contrast. Oh..Captain R....he isn't Jewish. Does Israel treat this IDF officer as a national hero? No...of course not. Next comparison. As for Argus's words, I think a great deal of the claims against certain factions of the Lebanese people are true. They were all there smooching each other as mentioned. A hero's welcome...not a child killer's. M.Dancer Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Does Israel treat this IDF officer as a national hero? No...of course not. Next comparison. Exactly. The moral comprison is flawed. Using him would be like using OJ Simpson and suggeting that cutting off your wife's head is normal. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
Argus Posted July 18, 2008 Author Report Posted July 18, 2008 (edited) Fine, but it's a big leap to go from "how gross is that Lebanese politicians and Hizbullah are giving this shitbag a heroes welcome" to, Lebanese leaders of all factions, Christians, Shiites, Sunies, Druze, all of them. It's literally a national holiday in Lebanon, and people are, literally, shouting for joy. Huge crowds turned out. Interviews with people in the streets turned up universal joy and pride at the hero's release. I don't see how a situation could be more bluntly obvious, how brutal a culture could be to celebrate this, and I doubt I'm alone on that. A Moment of Moral Clarity - The Gazette We want to side with the country that moves heaven and Earth to bring its boys home, to protect its citizens; not with the country of bloodthirsty mobs deifying cowards who smashed the skull of a 4-year-old girl with a rifle butt on a lovely Mediterranean beach. We learn about a people by observing whom they love and whom they hate. There are a select few societies where murderers, child murderers even, are celebrated as hero's. And yes, the left still feels that the occupied territories are the reason that there isn't peace on earth in the ME. Israel is the culprit here. lol Quote Those Dern Rednecks done outfoxed the left wing again.~blueblood~
Argus Posted July 18, 2008 Author Report Posted July 18, 2008 Well said, I have felt the same way.much like the palestinians passing around candy on 9/11. They were passing around candy yesterday too, celebrating his release and vowing to kidnap Israeli soldiers themselves. Olmert is a fool and a moron. The sooner he is jailed and replaced by someone with a spine the better off Israel will be.
