Topaz Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 The Ottawa Citizen.com is reporting there's 25 Mil of unclaimed tax funds! I'm sure that if the Tax Department set up a system for people to type their name in and see if they have money owing the problem would be soon fixed. Of course why would people not cash their cheques? Quote

Keep in mind that the refund owing is based on the CRA's current calculation. The recipient may have a different view of the calculation. Quote
Leafless Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 The Ottawa Citizen.com is reporting there's 25 Mil of unclaimed tax funds! A mere drop in the bucket and hardly worth mentioning compared to the $107-billion dollars the federal government raked in, relating to personal income taxes only, for 2005-2006. Quote

Perhaps the feds should supply a list of potential claimants, then smart entrepreneurs could trace these people - for an appropriate fee of course - just as has been done for decades with unclaimed bank balances. It's a win/win situation: rightful parties get the bulk of money coming to them and amateur dick traceys earn interesting fees. I don't know how rich you are Leafless but $25 million would make a difference in my lifestyle. Quote
