Argus Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) Dion is not planning on raising taxes, he is planning on SHIFTING taxation from income & business taxes to taxes on the combustion of fossil fuels. At least try to be honest when you debate... On Sept. 11, 2003, Dalton McGuinty signed the following pledge: "I, Dalton McGuinty, leader of the Liberal Party of Ontario, promise, if my party is elected as the next government, that I will: Not raise taxes or implement any new taxes without the explicit consent of Ontario voters and will not run deficits. I promise to abide by the Taxpayer Protection and Balanced Budget Act." In his first budget, with no remorse, no apology and no apparent regret, Mr. Mc-Guinty broke this promise by levying one of the largest tax hikes in Ontario history with the imposition of a new so-called "health tax" of up to $900 per person.. Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")

I don't think Governments have the right to bring in Massive Tax Hikes, period. They should learn to cut their spending or invest more strategically to come up with more money. The average tax payer is sick and tired of Governments increasing spending, and then crying when the well runs dry. Lower spending=no new taxes. LOW spending=cutting taxes NO spending=NO TAXES!
