Chimpanzees are not hominids; a person is a human or organization with legal rights and duties, any judge who rules in her favour belongs in an institution.

Well, fact is if you want to base your mock outrage on whether chimps are noy hominids then uysers offer of a napkin for the egg.....chimpanzees, gorillas and humans...indeed, all apes are hominids.

And that's a fact.

Since the chimp was taken from the wild, society is obligated to look after it properly regardless of the cost, but awarding a chimp human rights when a human fetus has none. I don't think so.

Making sure the chimp is taken care of is admirable. Trying to get the chimp declared a person is exposing the weakness of the laws as written.

Being successfull in declaring the chimp would set a dangerous precendent and is patently ridiculous.

Maple Leaf forum is allowing repeated use of the word "leftard" these days... how, um, surprising.
