Topaz Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Is the PM thinking of going to the GG and calling an election because of the way things are going in Ottawa and nothing is getting done except Cons leaving committee meetings?? The worse of the committee meeting is the one about Cadman and by the sounds of it they can't even get started to ask questions because they Chair keeps leaving. It would benefit Harper if there was an election then he wouldn't have to deal with the scandals that plague his government. I still don't think any of the parties would get a majority though. The Libs could think about a new leader again but I wonder if that would change anything in Ottawa. Quote

Yes, it's dirty politics, and in this regard the Torys are no better than the Liberals. The only difference is the Tory's weren't in government when the Cadman incident allegedly occurred. Trying to paint this govenment as scandal-plagued like the former Liberal government is laughable. Only a die-hard liberal in denial would do so. They stole taxpayer money and give it to their party for god sake. How anyone can remail loyal to a party after that I have no idea. The Liberals should bite the bullet and replace Dion. He's not a leader. The idea of him becoming PM scares the hell out of me. Quote
Sean Hayward Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Is it even possible for the PM to get an election from the Governor General after the fixed election dates bill was passed? The Liberals aren't stupid enough to defeat the government and have an election. They would have a result equal to or worse than what they have now and Dion would have to look for a new job. Looks increasing like October 2009 is the date of the next election. Quote
Shakeyhands Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Cadman is about on par with Dosanjh and Murphy trying to bribe Grewal. Huh??? Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
gc1765 Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) Cadman is about on par with Dosanjh and Murphy trying to bribe Grewal. I don't think Cadman approached the Conservatives about a "bribe"...the fact that he refused the offer suggests that it was the Conservatives making the offer, and Cadman making the refusal. Edited April 8, 2008 by gc1765 Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")

Nothing on that tape was criminal (I would have loved to hear the Stronach tapes - but they don't exist). IF the Conservatives offered $1 million dollars for Cadman's vote - that would be criminal. They are both in the gutter, but the Liberals had their toes on the line, the Cons went over (if the story is true) Quote
White Doors Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 I sure hope there is a spring election! Nothing would provide me more enjoyment that to see Dion stumbling over his words on the stump on the 5 oclock news with playoff hockey on right after.
