Canadian rentals are overwhealmingly 'no pets', 'no smoking'. As are stratas and other apartments. Renters/Apartment dwellers have to luck out finding a small duplex or similar with more of a chance of allowing pets. There are also very few rentals/apartments available. This is at least the way in western Canada (Alberta & BC with boom economies at the moment...we'll see how much longer).

Only a couple of years ago the demand wasn't nearly so high...so many 'no pet' rules simply didn't exist or were easily negotiated. Now days, many property management companies demand huge pet deposits which are often not in the budget for renters on the move. So pets get left behind...

This makes sense. Thank you for the explanation.

I liked your story and Angus Thermopyle's too. Hearing about the rescued cats and dogs really made my day. :)

And Wilbur, I agree with you completely. Anyone who isn't in it for the duration, for the lifetime of the pet, shouldn't be a pet owner.

You're welcome. :)

During one hasty move-out at a cheaper apartment, we discovered a terrarium left on the complex's front lawn. I recall the temperature being well below zero. Inside were numerous exotic lizards and frogs...some of which had already died. The terrarium was ruined so I assume someone dropped it then they just abandoned it. I ended up gathering all the living critters up in an ice cream bucket and taking them home. My wife and I then went out and blew a pile-o-cash on a new terrarium+heater+lights+etc and went into the lizard business. Anoles mainly which are easy to take care of and change colour according to mood...and Long tailed Grass Lizards...also easy. They're cool because their defence mechanism is to pretend to be a snake by tucking in their legs and poking out their special tongue with a 'snake-like' fork in it. Apparently, it fools the predators. The frogs we donated back to the local exotic pet store as they required a completely different set-up...and price range(!)...to care for. But now the lizards are members of the family, too. Very keen little eyes that look right at you. TV for cats.

Some people just don't regard owning a pet as a life long responsibility. If you aren't prepared to do that, you have no business getting one IMO.

I concur, nothing riles my feathers more than someone getting a dog and they promptly tie it to a tree or pole for it's life time. Why bother getting an animal when you intend to neglect it for it's life time, get a shrub because that's how they treat the dog. As an ornament to be neglected and abused. Gurrr makes me angry.

like them.

Some rap is great, most stuff by Snoop and Dr Dre is fantastic. I took my screen nick from a rap song by a rap group called Cypress hill. My favorite bands will still always be the Ramones and KISS though

Did I mention that Conservatives really annoy me?

Got some really anoying people you want to put on notice?

Create your own "on notice" boards like on stephen colbert and share them with friends at this link.

KISS and the Ramones!!!!

of the two I like the Ramones the best.

BUT, ever see the movie detroit rock city?

That is hilarious!!!

Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. It is okay to criticize a policy, decision, action or comment. Such criticism is part of healthy debate. It is not okay to criticize a person's character or directly insult them, regardless of their position or actions. Derogatory terms such as "loser", "idiot", etc are not permitted unless the context clearly implies that it is not serious. Rule of thumb: Play the ball, not the person (i.e. tackle the argument, not the person making it).

honestly, i hate litterbugs. How hard is it to throw something in the trash?? I know it's cliche but it's so unecessarily ignorant when people don't care enough to find a garbage bin.

The new cheaper lids at Tim Hortons. They don't fold back properly and you end up having to rip it off altogether and making a mess in your cup holder.

We have had a difficult winter, our old cat 18 died of complications of diabetes and then my old rooster died. I think he was about 6 years old.

Now we are down to one cat we see and a new one who is hiding out in our basement so far. The six little hens we got last year couldn't give a darn about the rooster because accomadating him evidently had been bred out of them. I think he died of disappointment.

Yes you never should take on a pet unless you are prepared to be there for the long haul.

People asking me to help move them. When I was in university and younger and people moved alot, sure -I did it all the time. I am in my mid-thirties now. I hire moving companies to move me. Why can't others?

I was asked again today. Hooray an evening of moving. A 45 minute drive there and back..

grrr.....

I work in the service industry,

as a Butcher in a small Grocery

store.

What really peeves me is when

a person stops in front of our service

counter and gestures to me while

they are still talking on the phone, but forces

me to wait until they finish talking

often taking their time before actually

getting off the phone and telling me what they want.

I want to take that phone and shove it up their

pretentious little a--es!

The customer is always right -Yeah Right!

Thanks,I feel better now

Why anyone would piss off a man chopping meat is beyond me. That pisses me off how stupid that is. Actually for me its Bell Canada. I defy anyone to try deal with them. Its impossible.

Also I hate all gasoline stations and car manufacturers and spam, huge people sitting next to me on airplanes or babies on airplanes or someone who insists on standing in the airplane and shoving their buttox in my face or anything to do with Air Canada who are rude pricks. I also hate Mats Sundin, Maple Leafs fans after hockey games because they walk around like zombies from the night of the living dead and Tyra Banks who has a head like a pencil eraser and makes me puke.

I also hate Paula Abdul and Kati Couric and the guy who got fat on law and order because he always talks with his head sideways which is stupid.

I also can not stand it when David Caruso must start every friggin show of his on one knee asking Frank what do we have hear when he knows its a f..cking dead body because he has been doing the same tv show and script for how many f..king years.

Also curling. That is a dumb sport. I also hate diet coke or diet pepsi. Either give me sugar and let me die from diabetes or stop with that fake metallic crap they put in it.

Also I hate Burger King French fries. I ate them once. They taste like toe nails.

I hate the Mandarin restaurant and their stupid racist ads with a guy from Tibet they try pose as Chinese and have him wear a yamacha with a pony tail.. All it does is serve people MSG and watch them hyperventilate from it.

I also hate anything made in China. Anything. Hate it all.

I also hate and I use the word hate in regards to cold coffee. It takes like spit.

I am done.

Second that one. For a company that brags about its coffee they have the crappiest lids going. I won't have their coffee in my car unless it's in my own mug. Wiped it up off the console too many times.
