Lazarus Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Looks like those evil UK Muslims along with UK Hindu's and Sikh's are pulling religious antics again. This time they want to put Christ back into Christmas. The nerve of them. Hands off Christmas, say British religious leadersMon Dec 10, 2007 9:21am EST By Paul Majendie LONDON (Reuters) - Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims joined Britain's equality watchdog on Monday in urging Britons to enjoy Christmas without worrying about offending non-Christians. "It's time to stop being daft about Christmas. It's fine to celebrate and it's fine for Christ to be star of the show," said Trevor Phillips, chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. "Let's stop being silly about a Christian Christmas," he said, referring to a tendency to play down the traditional celebrations of the birth of Christ for fear of offending minorities in multicultural Britain. Suicide bombings by British Islamists in July 2005 which killed 52 people in London have prompted much soul-searching about religion and integration in Britain, a debate that has been echoed across Europe. The threat of radical Islam, highlighted by the London attacks, prompted reflection about Britain's attitude to ethnic minorities and debate about whether closer integration was more important than promoting multiculturalism. Phillips, reflecting on media reports of schools scrapping nativity plays and local councils celebrating "Winterval" instead of Christmas, feared there might an underlying agenda -- using "this great holiday to fuel community tension." So he joined forces with leaders of minority faiths to put out a blunt message to the politically correct -- Leave Christmas alone. "Hindus celebrate Christmas too. It's a great holiday for everyone living in Britain," said Anil Bhanot, general secretary of the UK Hindu Council. Sikh spokesman Indarjit Singh said: "Every year I am asked 'Do I object to the celebration of Christmas?' It's an absurd question. As ever, my family and I will send out our Christmas cards to our Christian friends and others." Their sentiments were echoed by British Muslim leaders, who were also forthright last week in condemning Sudan for jailing a British teacher for letting her pupils name a teddy bear Mohammad. Muslim Council of Britain spokesman Shayk Ibrahim Mogra said "To suggest celebrating Christmas and having decorations offends Muslims is absurd. Why can't we have more nativity scenes in Britain?" More than 70 percent of Britons -- some 41 million -- said they were Christians, according to figures from the 2001 census. Muslims were the largest religious group after Christians -- at the time there were 1.6 million Muslims in Britain, while there were over half a million Hindus and Sikhs numbered just over a third of a million. I am guessing sarcasm is lost on you. Both my opening comments and thread title were an exercise is satire and sarcasm. The point to the post is to point out that not all Muslims (or Jews, Sikh's, Hindu's, Buddhist, Daoist, Wiccan's or what have you for that matter) are out to destroy Christianity, Christmas or western civilization. If anything, this joint statement is a glimmer of hope in a dark and scary world. I hope some of our more shall we say, radical members here will also see the light. Quote

Moxie Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 LOL should the British people get on their knees and grovel with thanks Lazarus? England has bent so far over to accommadate their minorities that it's culture has almost disappeared. The people are starting to fight their governments socialist stupidity, hopefully it's not to late. Quote Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy
ScottSA Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 This is hilarious. The Global Jihad grinds out it's horrific monthly death toll; Cair, Cair-can, and numerous "moderate" organizations siphon millions upon millions into court cases challenging security and cultural mainstays in the west; and further millions convincing sheep and smug liberals that to argue against it is "racism" and "Islamophobia;" yet some Islamofascist comes up with a cute Goebbelian scheme to put the Christ back into Christmas, and we're all supposed to be about heaping praise on them? Errrrrr, no thanks. In any event, it's not the 7th century savages who are offended by Christmas; it's lilly white liberals who think they ought to be; or at least think Christ should be re-crucified, but more quietly this time. I'm noticing quite a groundswell, or backlash against calling Christmas "the Holidays" this year. I'm even starting to send emails back to companies who deal with me, suggesting that they use the auld terminology. Quote

It seems to me that you're missing something here; the way I read it is that these people for some reason think that they have the authority to actually reassure Christians that we in fact do have the right to celebrate Christmas openly. Well, that's quite interesting. So now evidently we need the okay of recent immigrants with heretical beliefs before we native-born Christians can celebrate holidays the manner in which we are accustomed. Quote

Oh right, the people who legally live there. Sorry I forgot.Pay your taxes and shut up is the mantra. Is it only me who thought that it is their home too? Nothing like showing us what a pompous ass christian thinks... Heretic: The accepted meaning of a heretic changed to that of a religious outcast who opposed true doctrine : a dissenter from established religious dogma; especially : a baptized member of the Roman Catholic Church who disavows a revealed truth 2: one who dissents from an accepted belief or doctrine So these people are saying there isnt a problem with christmas , never was, enjoy it and quite your bitching, and now.....oh my, now you want to bitch because you cant bitch. Happy Holidays you whiners!!! Quote

Canadian Blue Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 I'd be more concerned about those who identify more with the Muslim world, or for that matter the large amount which are sympathetic towards the 9/11 hijackers. This is not to say that a muslim could never adopt western civilization, but the failed cult of multiculturalism fails to recognize that western culture is in fact superior to that of Saudi Arabia. margrace Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 I watched a show about Mississippi when the race problem was on and couldn't help hearing in the voices of the white suppremist the same as one hears on here today toward anyone not white. Times never change I guess. We repeat our history if we don't lean from it. Quote

Is it only me who thought that it is their home too? I'm talking about my house. If I didn't invite you to visit me, you are not welcome, especially if you think that my house is yours. I have a right to keep my house in order I like. If your neighbor wants to be respected, this person should learn first how to respect other neighbors. Without lecturing them what is right or wrong. Is that clear? Quote
