  1. I even admit it is very diplomatic and well drafted.
  2. Yeah, but, like, it's a dumb plan. It's as though the people on the Titanic got together and decided their best plan was to build a bucket. Then, when the bucket was finished, they could start baling. Of course, no one thought the bucket would actually stop the ship from sinking, just slow down the water coming in, a tiny, tiny, tiny, actually unnoticeable amount. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank God for opinions. Anything that the Libs would come up with would never be good enough for you anyway. At least the global community is talking, not critisizing and whining like the right on this forum.
  3. You are not only embarrassing yourself, you're embarassing me. Yeah, like, we let the planes land. We coulda made them fly out into the ocean and sink, y'know. We're like, so heroic! Yeesh! PS. When did they take the rolly eye smilie away? I liked him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This was in reference to our hospitality, like I have to explain this. They could have all stayed on the planes, but the good folks in the area took them into their homes and forged friendships. It was a point to show how "anti-American" we are. Sheesh.
  4. America1, let's see if we can get back on track. I think what Canadians dislike is the "either your with us or your with the terrorists" kind of attitude coming out of your current administration. Most eveyone I talk to has no animosity toward your citizens, but they do have some issues with Bush. I think you are blowing the Martin incident way out of proportion. It was a call to all countries to unite against global warming, and we are just as guilty as anyone. At least there is a global plan in the works. And considering that US is one of the biggest producers of greenhouse gases, it was an appropriate comment IMO.
  5. Best use your words to refute the issues instead of reverting to ad hominem attacks.
  6. It was us "anti-Americans" who housed all you folks when you landed your planes due to 911, or have you forgot about that little incident. Keep voting in Bushs' and we'll keep criticising the administration. And we're not alone. Ask the rest of the world. And while I'm at it, here's what Dubya thinks of your constitution. http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publ...icle_7779.shtml
  7. BHS, here is a link re Bush Sr. bashing Clinton. http://mediamatters.org/items/200509200002 As far as Nixon goes, I got the info from one of his later books where he blasts Clinton for his womanizing. It shouldn't be too hard to find. And this thing about Carter is interesting. Unfortunately, the writer is hardly impartial given his previous books championing the right wing. Carter's peace and humanitarian efforts are legendary, and he sets the perfect example for all ex-Presidents to follow. http://www.cartercenter.org/activities/activities.htm I don't think you want to get into the Presidents that really assisted Dictators now do you?
  8. Uncalled for remarks are the norm here it seems dugger. Stick around, you'll either get used to it, ignore those offending posters or leave in digust. Re-read some of Montomery's posts. He kind of set the tone since I've been here.
  9. When Bush Sr. defamed Clinton, he dug up the past and attacked Clinton over his anti-war stance while he was at Oxford (a little hypocritical since he got his kid a job over at the National Guard to stay out of Vietnam, a job Bush Jr. did not volunteer for). Nixon did it over Clinton's womanizing. If this is about Bush's job performance I would be apalled if they didn't criticise him. His economic record is shameful as is his total disregard for international law. And you talk extensively about Martin and scandal. Have you checked out the scandals Bush's hencemen are involved in? He and his administration are a disgrace.
  10. If true (this is the Guardian), it is just another example of what a loathsome man Clinton is. Like Jimmy Carter, he continues to attack a sitting president, which is a no-no for former presidents. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, like Bush Sr. and Nixon used to do re Clinton.
  11. Look, once again, CALLING for the death of anyone is not the same as killing them. You can't refute that. A nutbar who kills a doctor is not the same as Osamas who mastermind the attacks that kill 100s or thousands. Said nutbar is also not the equivalent of a muslim who straps bombs on his back to get on a bus and take out everybody. Either cite examples or show your argument to be full of hate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I see you did not read or understand post #47. There are examples. Again, you are blowing this out of proportion. I am just responding to the original poster who said there are SOME followers of Christianity who are just as bad as Muslim fundamentalists. I gave examples. Give it a rest.
  12. For the record I don't hate anyone. As far as being honest, I'm not making this stuff up. Re-read posts 44 and 47. There is an element of extreme and hateful Christian fundamentalism out there and saying is doesn't exist is deep denial.
  13. I'm sorry, but you say that from the bottom of a vast, deep pit of ignorance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Argus, there is a ton of evidence to back up the hatefulness of the fundamentalist Christian movement. No, there really isn't. Yes, there really are some wackos among the fundies, particularly the television preachers. I don't deny it. But virtually all Christian churches and sects have a hierarchy, an organization, which does not permit the kind of wild, hateful speech which is normality in the Muslim world. You see, Islam has no hierarchy. Most clerics are entirely independant, governed and supervised by no one, with whatever credentials they can scrape up (often none), and so the Muslim world is full of ignorant clerics screaming their hateful, violent messages to a far more credulous and ignorant populace than what we have in the West. Giving me a quote from the demented Pat Robertson does not change that. There is only one Pat Robertson, and only a few other wacked out fundie preachers in the US. There are thousands upon thousands of radical Muslim Clerics who are worse. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you look at the original quote, it was in reference to some of the followers of Christianity. And some of them are extreme fundamentalists who spout hatred and have even killed others who disagree with their beliefs. I said it was in a small scale, but even that addresses the quote from Sparhawk.
  14. The task force you are talking about was part of a US naval battle group which included an A/C carrier. what do you think that battle group was doing in the gulf if not supporting the invasion. Intercepting and boarding what suspect ships ( Iraqi ships) If that is not enough why are we now training Iraqi military and police forces in Jordan. We are involved, our goverment is just not telling you the whole truth. All this info is available on the DND web site. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I went to the DND and couldn't find your reference re Jordon and the specifics. I think the implication was and is that we don't have ground troops in Iraq. Anything other than that is perception and interpretation.
  15. I don't know. Calling for the death of anyone who dare lay a hand on Trinity Broadcast System is rather severe. And who bombed abortion clinics and killed doctors who do abortions? Some of the neo-nazi groups who have a Christian identity have been linked to the death of homosexuals http://www.adl.org/PresRele/NeoSk_82/2477_82.asp. Also, Pete Peters, a leading ideologue of the racist Christian Identity religion. The title of his 1993 book, Death to all Homosexuals, leaves little to the imagination. Or consider Fred Phelps, the radical Topeka Baptist. He runs the godhatesfags.com web site. Tom Metzger, who leads the White Aryan Resistance, offers up for his part cartoons that depict gay men being beaten to death. http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport...cle.jsp?aid=228 To say that extreme Christian fundamentalism isn't the same as muslim fundamentalism is not true. It may not be on the same scale but it's there nonetheless.
  16. I'm sorry, but you say that from the bottom of a vast, deep pit of ignorance. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Argus, there is a ton of evidence to back up the hatefulness of the fundamentalist Christian movement. Here's a few quotes. Let me know if you need more. "God, we proclaim death to anything or anyone that will lift a hand against this network and this ministry that belongs to You, God," Paul Crouch (head of Trinity Broadcast Network) November 7, 1997. "To hell with you! Get out of my life! Get out of the way!…I say get out of God's way! Quit blocking God's bridges or God's going to shoot you if I don't…I don't even want to even talk to you or hear you! I don't want to see your ugly face!" (Paul Crouch, Audio-Clip, "Christianity In Crisis," Hank Hanegraaff) "It is interesting, that termites don't build things, and the great builders of our nation almost to a man have been Christians, because Christians have the desire to build something. He is motivated by love of man and God, so he builds. The people who have come into (our) institutions (today) are primarily termites. They are into destroying institutions that have been built by Christians, whether it is universities, governments, our own traditions, that we have.... The termites are in charge now, and that is not the way it ought to be, and the time has arrived for a godly fumigation."--Pat Robertson, New York Magazine, August 18, 1986 "Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history."--Pat Robertson, 1993 interview with Molly Iv
  17. I guess you've never heard of medicinal marijuana. Here are some benefits from http://www.mpp.org/medicine.html Medicinal Value Marijuana is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known. No one has ever died from an overdose, and it has a wide variety of therapeutic applications, including: • Relief from nausea and appetite loss; • Reduction of intraocular (within the eye) pressure; • Reduction of muscle spasms; and • Relief from chronic pain. Marijuana is frequently beneficial in the treatment of the following conditions: AIDS. Marijuana can reduce the nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite caused by the ailment itself and by various AIDS medications. Glaucoma. Marijuana can reduce intraocular pressure, alleviating the pain and slowing—and sometimes stopping—damage to the eyes. (Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness in the United States. It damages vision by increasing eye pressure over time.) Cancer. Marijuana can stimulate the appetite and alleviate nausea and vomiting, which are common side effects of chemotherapy treatment. Multiple Sclerosis. Marijuana can limit the muscle pain and spasticity caused by the disease, as well as relieving tremor and unsteadiness of gait. (Multiple sclerosis is the leading cause of neurological disability among young and middle-aged adults in the United States.) Epilepsy. Marijuana can prevent epileptic seizures in some patients. Chronic Pain. Marijuana can alleviate the chronic, often debilitating pain caused by myriad disorders and injuries. And you said alcohol is harmless in moderation? 18. Not according to Cmdre. Roger Girouard, head of the task force involved. He said "The Task Force is responsible for escorting ships, intercepting and boarding suspect ships and guarding against attacks on shipping" and that "Canada won't be participating in a possible war on Iraq." This was stated just prior to the invasion. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...44964458943_10/
  19. That will be sure to piss them off Monty.
  20. August, I have no young children but I do have two grandchildren who are currently accessing child care services. I worry more about trained staff and accreditied programs and facilities that anything.
  21. August, is there any mention of regulated or accredited child care facilities and instructors with the CPC plan or is this a provincial jurisdiction?
  22. Thanks for posting that August. I'm glad to see that neither party was in the attack mode in these commercials. Maybe that's for later. But I kind of agree with you re Liberal ads vs. CPC, and it is nice to see Harper not venting.
