  1. http://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/climate-change-not-fully-to-blame-for-melting-sea-ice-study-1.1810977 The above link is interesting and slightly related. I'll see if I can find a link to the actual paper.
  2. and i'm saying it isn't and gave a counter example.
  3. no you said that perception of orientation is orientation. Which it isn't.
  4. Nonsense. I have a friend whose perception has changed between lesbian and straight several times. As a male, can I join an all female college? If not, is that discrimination? Not that I really care what the charter says... but since you do... What about section 29 of the charter? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_Twenty-nine_of_the_Canadian_Charter_of_Rights_and_Freedoms Or section 15.2? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_Fifteen_of_the_Canadian_Charter_of_Rights_and_Freedoms
  5. I take issue with discrimination based on sexual orientation. But that doesn't mean private religious institutions cannot be bigoted, since otherwise you wouldn't have freedom of belief and freedom of religion. People may change their perception of their sexual orientation, but short of hormone therapy, generally people can't change their sexual orientation.
  6. No one chooses their sexual orientation. But people choose their beliefs.
  7. There is a big difference between discriminating someone based on their race and based on their personal beliefs. Race is something a person cannot change or control. Belief is something a person can change.
  8. Did you not read my earlier post about 'employment equity' and university scholarships?
  9. Why? It's not publicly funded and no one is forced to go to this University. You mean like how many provinces have a catholic school system? Maybe we should get rid of that. The 'right thing' is to bad students from an institution from being accredited because of their beliefs? How very Orwellian of you... What are these 'beliefs' that Canada has (if a country can even have beliefs)? Have you been brainwashed by our education system or something?
  10. And what about freedom of thought, expression, belief or religion? A large segment of the population believes in ridiculous, misogynistic, homophobic faerie tales. I would rather that this segment of the population feel free to express their crazy beliefs so society knows who these people are, what they believe and can engage with them in open dialogue. I fail to see how silencing different viewpoints through coercion (such as not accrediting a private university cause of its beliefs) will be beneficial to society in the long run. Edit: and can you please define 'what Canada is about'?
  11. Religions are bigoted. Get over it. Can an atheist become an Imam for a mosque? If not, is that discrimination against atheists, or just being reasonable?
  12. This is a pretty messed up ruling by Ontario. If the graduates meet all the academic requirements, there is no reason to not accredit them. Not accrediting a private institution because of beliefs is ridiculous. The university could believe in the most hateful and bigoted things, but it shouldn't matter. What next? Thought police?
  13. Sounds like sexism to me.
  14. Why does the gender of the person who makes comments matter?
  15. People in the thread where making claims that white males experience no discrimination & making the nonsense privilege claims. My comments were totally related. There is no truth. Just bigoted delusion.
  16. Davos was a smuggler. Sam is fat, lazy and a wimp. Brienne overvalues oaths and vows. Wasn't the poison inside the glass beads?
  17. Meanwhile, nearly every freaking job I apply to has some bullshit paragraphs in the job description stating things like: "We value a diverse workforce and encourage everyone to apply. Especially people that a women, first nations, visible minorities, gay, and every other freaking group other than white heterosexual males. We won't say it explicitly, but we implicitly want white males to not apply because they be have the belief that they are all privileged based on their race and gender, regardless of their upbringing." If someone wants to get a scholarship for university, like half are reserved for for women, visible minorities, etc.
  18. It's not about power. It is about belief/bigotry and discrimination.
  19. Is it just me, or is Daenerys about to start screwing up? She seems to have taken on the idea of justice being 'an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth' when she decided to crucify those 163 civilians. What if some of those civilians had useful information? What if some of those civilians did nothing wrong? Won't crucifying the civilians upset family members and cause future revolts? To quote Ghandi, 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind'.
  20. Are you sure about that? He might have done that to help Tyrion in the trial. Cersei's main complaints when he confronted her was that none was looking for Sansa and that he was spending too much time with the 'ogre' (Brienne). By sending Brienne, he both satisfies Brienne and Cersei. Petyr Baelish is even more powerful than I though. If he has the strong alliance with the Tyrells, then that makes him have potential claim to 3 of the 7 kingdoms and an alliance with the 4th, plus the iron bank. She took a bead off Sansa's necklass in episode 1 at the wedding.
  21. There is racism against every 'race' in North America. Indeed. Cybercoma's post is littered with racist claims.
  22. It is about treating people differently or discriminating against/for people based on their 'race'. Not all racism has to do with genetic superiority. People that advocate that races should be separate but equal are also racists. Like the comment 'black people should marry black people & white people should marry white people' is racist even though it does not indicate racial superiority.
  23. racism - noun- the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Cybercoma denies the very meaning of racism. Racism is racism regardless of which race (if any) it is targeted against. Call it 'reverse racism' if you wish, but it is still racism. How cybercoma is capable of such cognitive dissonance, I will never know. He/she must have a very warped mind. This is way unfair to Japan.
  24. Nope, I did not use the word moral.
