I take issue with discrimination based on sexual orientation. But that doesn't mean private religious institutions cannot be bigoted, since otherwise you wouldn't have freedom of belief and freedom of religion. People may change their perception of their sexual orientation, but short of hormone therapy, generally people can't change their sexual orientation.

No one chooses their sexual orientation. But people choose their beliefs.

There is a big difference between discriminating someone based on their race and based on their personal beliefs. Race is something a person cannot change or control. Belief is something a person can change.

And what about freedom of thought, expression, belief or religion? A large segment of the population believes in ridiculous, misogynistic, homophobic faerie tales. I would rather that this segment of the population feel free to express their crazy beliefs so society knows who these people are, what they believe and can engage with them in open dialogue. I fail to see how silencing different viewpoints through coercion (such as not accrediting a private university cause of its beliefs) will be beneficial to society in the long run. This is a pretty messed up ruling by Ontario. If the graduates meet all the academic requirements, there is no reason to not accredit them. Not accrediting a private institution because of beliefs is ridiculous. The university could believe in the most hateful and bigoted things, but it shouldn't matter. What next? Thought police?

If someone wants to get a scholarship for university, like half are reserved for for women, visible minorities, etc.

It is about treating people differently or discriminating against/for people based on their 'race'. Not all racism has to do with genetic superiority. People that advocate that races should be separate but equal are also racists.
