Nonsense. The inefficiencies of the Private sector are legendary. And I see them every day. Furthermore, my dad can beat up your dad.

Chretien To Challenge Gomery's Findings
I Miss Trudeau replied to tml12's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I agree that Chretien ought to, and likely will, win. Gomery's behaviour and words have been pretty inappropriate for a sitting judge. That really depends on the circumstances of the case. If the Liberals are in a minority government, the destruction of all of Gomery's work could look pretty bad for them. They did, after all, call an expensive inquiry to clear the air. It would look kind of weak if the air gut thicker rather than clearer. However, by the time that case gets done with, Canadians might be even more fatigued with "Adscam" than they currently are. In that case, the wrath of the electorate would fall on anyone still clamouring on about the issue. Given that Harper has picked this as his hill to die on, well... fate has a way of accomodating people, I guess. If Chretien is successful in his challenge, the BQ will use it for maximum rhetorical gain. That could be bad. The people that believe that the Finance minister is responsible for every penny of program spending are pretty surprised, as other threads here will demonstrate. I don't know. Pending the outcome of Chretiens challenge, it may well be that Chretien can still create a huge problem for Martin out of this. My candidates for last laugh are Chretien and Duceppe. -
Got any evidence for your speculation, apart from a desire for it to be true?

What, in your estimation, makes for an intellectual, then?

I hear it once in a while. But then, I hear more positive talk in Alberta of reducing or shutting down energy exports to the US than I hear positive talk of Alberta seperation. Klein...pffft. He knows very well that without a federal government to scapegoat, he'd be chewed up and spat out by the Alberta electorate in no time.

I've lived in Alberta for over 20 years and I can tell you that the only place seperation is part of daily dialogue is on AM radio.

But they're professional basket ball players, not professionals in the sense of lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc. Heck, garbage men are professionals too, but you don't see many of them dressing in business casual on the job.

Mmhmm. Like executive salaries. Or maybe, just maybe, take a few pennies out of multi-billion dollar profits. Naaaaaah... -

Do you honestly believe that the bank is currently employing more people than is absolutely neccessary to keep the branch functioning? If rolling back hours were an option, it would already be done. -
In short, they need a progressive leader.

Dinosaurs lived with Adam and Eve

Can anyone tell me how Adam and Eve managed to produce the entire human race with only two sons? One of which murdered the other? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Incest? -

I respectfully submit that if you're going to imply a nazi link or sympathy to someone, you'd better offer a little bit more than "I think...". -
Dinosaurs lived with Adam and Eve
I Miss Trudeau replied to newbie's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Right. So where exactly was Eden... apparently not in this world or universe. It doesn't seem fair to punish Adam and Eve for a sin committed...nowhere. Heck, even in this day of corrupted morals, we know its not cheating if you do it in another area code. How can you be punished for doing something in..non-existence? -

Don't be ridiculous. Of course he ate the apple.. thats what he subsisted on before humans ruined it for him. You don't seriously believe that he would even contemplate eating Adam's poodle, do you? -
So much for "The Quagmire"

Actually, the US has said that they were going to maintain bases in Iraq 'in perpetuity'.http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0930/p17s02-cogn.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One day Iraq will be the shining success that Saudi Arabia now is. -
Given that it is an economics degree from the UofC, I would suggest that its suspect for obvious reasons - sheer hackery would (and does) earn a person a masters in economics from that school. The only real question is if Manning actually believed the mythology that he milked to accomplish that feat.

Gee Kimmy, I didn't think you'd have such a problem with fact based media. Are you moving further to the right or something? -
Exploiting The Dead

I don't think anyone is under the illusion that anything to do with the security council is "fair." The hitler part is hyperbole, but the rest is pretty much dead on. -

Big corporations (the ones that funded both Bush and Kerry's campaigns) are being repaid with lucrative rebuilding contracts. Neither they, nor Bush, really care that the American people are engaged in one of the largest corporate welfare schemes in the history of the planet. -

Stupid me,and I thought it was the high labour and benefit costs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, the biggest problem facing GM is poor management in the past. The benefit and pension deals that they made with the union aren't the problem, its that successive leaders decided that the books would look better if they kept profits high in the short term. So, instead of properly funding the retirement plan, for example, they put in a little money, and budgeted for above 10% return on it. Unfortunatly, they got closer to 4%. Do that for 10 years, and see what happens when its time to pay the piper. But hey, their profits looked pretty good for a while. -
Doubt it. Interesting to note that in the two provinces that have NDP governments -Saskatchewan and Manitoba - do not have proprep initiatives underway. Also interesting that a search of NDP official websites shows that these 2 NDP governed are the only two NDP p[rovincial and federal official party sites that DO NOT have proprep as policy. In both provinces, both NDP governments would likely lose their majorities if proprep were implemented. One can only come to one conclusion: they are unprincipled, power hungry swine. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kind of like every other majority government, eh?
