  1. Is there any body else you'd like to let into the country so we can trash some more of our culture.
  2. That was an invention of the climate scare mongers. It had nothing to do with Bush.
  3. Albertans Over the span of however many years this province has been practically giving away its resources by charging a fraction of the royalty rates that other jurisdiction charge. -k Take a look next door to Saskatchewan and see what you would have for an economy. Nothing. If there is no money in it the oil companies just close up shop. New found land is finding that out right now.
  4. Harper is spending like a drunken sailor right now. Perhaps he should show some restraint today rather than make a promise that will take a few years to implement. There might be a case for that, but he just scrapped another liberal feel good bunch of spending on the global warming hoax. Hows that for restraint.
  5. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...1125?hub=Canada Here here! Rae is hitting the right notes alright. Rae is a left wing tax and spend social engineer. Him and his kind need to be permanently cut off at the wallet. Take away the prize and you won't see any of them anywhere near the levers of power.
  6. Yes B.Max, we know. Global Warming is a fraud. Just take it easy, it'll be Ok. Even your EU one worlders have said as much. As it turns out, Kyoto's objective has nothing to do with saving the globe. In fact it is purely political. A case in point: French President Jacques Chirac said during a speech at The Hague in November of 2000 that Kyoto represents "the first component of an authentic global governance." So, I wonder: are the French going to be dictating U.S. policy? Margot Wallstrom, the EU's Environment Commissioner, takes a slightly different view, but one that's instructive about the real motives of Kyoto proponents. She asserted that Kyoto is about "the economy, about leveling the playing field for big businesses worldwide." Climate Change- July 28, 2003 http://inhofe.senate.gov/floorspeeches.htm
  7. Because it's not. It and its bastard child kyoto are a fraud.
  8. Ah yes, they started a process alright. They canceled every program that the Liberal government started, canceled the government web site with all the history of Kyoto and what was being done to improve the environment and came out with their Hot... oops "Clean" Air Act that is a total farce. But what this miserable "new" government didn't count on was that once something is on the internet, it leave a trail. What did the Liberals really accomplish? significantly reduce sulphur levels in diesel fuel; Since 2001, regulations have been implemented to cut down engine emissions of many pollutants such as particulate matter, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds that come from on- and off-road vehicles, engines and the fuels that power them. “These regulations set stringent new Canadian standards aligned with U.S. requirements,” added the Minister, “and by promoting the competitiveness of Canada’s refining industry, the approach is aligned under the Government of Canada’s Project Green, the broad environmental vision that links Canada’s economic competitiveness and prosperity to a sustainable future.” The regulations introduce controls on sulphur in non-road diesel fuel from the current unregulated level to a 500 milligrams per kilogram (mg / kg) limit in 2007 and a 15 mg/kg limit starting in 2010. This will result in about a 99% reduction in four years from the current, unregulated average level of sulphur in non-road diesel fuel. Increasing our environmental performance; On clean air, we are moving ahead with our Ten Year Clean Air Agenda laid out in 2000, in order to minimize pollution, reduce transportation sector emissions, lower emissions from major industrial sources, improve pollutant reporting by industry, advance clean air science, and engage the public in finding solutions to clean air issues. An Overview of Project Green Canada Launches Project Green "The Plan provides for Government of Canada investments...to fully realize the anticipated reductions of about 270 megatonnes.” David Emerson agreed with Project Green So don't ever say the the Liberal government did nothing for the environment or couldn't meet it's Kyoto obligations cause they were on target to do both, although more needed to be done to meet the targets, and ain't nothin' that Steve can say or do that will change that piece of history. What a farce. The green plan, attack the three core industries that create all the wealth. Fro which nothing else would be possible. It should have been called the economic treason plan.
  9. The provinces have similarly tried to grab federal responsibilities. Immigration and even defence issues are areas that provinces want to have a say in. Klein wanted a say in foreign policy. So does Quebec. There is no end to what provinces want and no end to blaming the federal government. I think every Canadian prime minister has learned this fact. Having a say in, and grabbing federal powers are two different things. This amendment by its self would likely do little to limit federal powers unless it is is coupled with other measures. Ideally the federal government should be reduced to some sort of contractor status for the provinces and with only a hand full of the powers it now exercises.
  10. CTVThis has long been requested in Quebec and follows directly from Harper's statements about provincial rights. The US constitution states that all government powers not clearly stated as going to the federal government, belong to the states. And any powers not clearly stated as government belong to the people. Our Constitution does the reverse and gives the federal government power the right to tax or spend in any domain it feels appropriate. Harper's amendment is good and would limit the federal government's power to intervene in jurisdictions that are not in its competency. The Liberals and NDP will likely oppose this proposal. This has been one of Alberta's complaints for a long time. In the past the federal government has usurped powers from the provinces and done end runs around the constitution to exercise powers it doesnt have. Harpers amendment is a good idea but I'm afraid it will be done in a Canadian half measured way. The one worlder liberals and ndp will definately oppose it.
  11. How do you figure we lost fifty billion. Who is we, and when did we lose this money.
  12. Debit machines are supposedly down across the country. Maybe the greens have hacked them down to support their don't buy day or what ever it is they call it.
  13. Yup, the sooner the better.
  14. Tom Foley's not doing anything these days, maybe they should put the tap on him.
  15. You can always find someone, backed by the tobacco industry, to refute the studies. Even if it isn't conclusive, that's no excuse for jeopardizing children's health just for the convenience of smoking indoors. Anyone who does so should be ashamed of themselves. Wait until you find out who was behind the anti smoking industry. http://encyclopedia.smokersclub.com/224.html
  16. Where do you think corporate taxes come from, out of thin air. We are taxed to death in this country. It wasn't always that way. Socialist leaning governments that think they know how to spend your money better than you do put an end to that little by little. It shouldn't be called taxes, it should be theft.
  17. Since the liberals took over you could probably get Ontario's economy in there also.
  18. I totally disagree. They are headed there now and they haven't been taking any advice from them.
  19. Ten to twelve dollars an hour. That is the reason Albertans don't do it. You can get around fifteen an hour working in Mcdonalds. Pipe line work pays better than that.
  20. I don't know what is all here for studies but have a look. It's been years since I was looking at studies. http://www.forces.org/evidence/financial-ties/index.htm
  21. Good advice. Don't make the same mistake the republicans made. They went to washington to change government and ended up becoming government. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...4a-3f8f3a913f13
  22. The EPA in the States says second hand smoke is a class A carcinogen. http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hl-vs/tobac-tabac/s...ir/index_e.html Fact: Although the EPA declared ETS was a Class A carcinogen with an RR of 1.19, in analysis of other agents they found relative risks of 2.6 and 3.0 insufficient to justify a Group A classification. Fact: In 1998 Judge William Osteen vacated the study - declaring it null and void after extensively commentating on the shoddy way it was conducted. His decision was 92 pages long. Fact: Osteen used the term "cherry-picking" to describe he way the EPA selected their data. "First, there is evidence in the record supporting the accusation that EPA "cherry picked" its data. Without criteria for pooling studies into a meta- analysis, the court cannot determine whether the exclusion of studies likely to disprove EPA's a priori hypothesis was coincidence or intentional. Second, EPA's excluding nearly half of the available studies directly conflicts with EPA's purported purpose for analyzing the epidemiological studies and conflicts with EPA's Risk Assessment Guidelines."
  23. I don't make the rules Geoffrey I'm telling you the facts. If you don't like the facts it's no reason to rip on me. Go out and change the rules. Until then the fact remains second hand smoke is not a class A carcinogen. I'll agree on one point and that is to much smoking is bad for you, but there is no evidence second hand smoke based on the studies is any significant risk.
  24. The National Cancer Institute and the National Institues of Health are part of the anti-smoking industry? The NIH is the foremost organization for medical research. I can't think of a more credible source than that, can you? In the references in the link I provided, they say there is a 12-19% increase in risk due to second hand smoke. I imagine it's not too hard to figure out how many people die each year of lung cancer, and how many people are exposed to second hand smoke. Simple arithmetic would give the number of deaths per year from second hand smoke. EDIT: Oh and that's just for lung cancer. For heart disease it's 25-35%, etc..... They can say what ever they want and do. But here is an actual study. There are around seventy if I remember correctly. http://www.data-yard.net/39/cabin.pdf
  25. Most likely because they are not as corrupted as ours.
