  1. The no fly zone enforcement operation was not a USAF operation. It was a NATO operation at the initiative of the United Nations. The combat on the ground was an operation of the Libyan people who just wanted the evil bastard gone.
  2. Exactly. I guess you and I can each have a wing in that library of things we don't know.
  3. Okay. I looked him up. He's just a con man like Q. He donated to the DNC and Q excavated the rabbit hole for the GOP. She is probably wealthy enough now to move out of her mom's basement. But there is still that bit of paper waiting for her is she ever sets foot back in New Jersey. She and Bankman-Fried are cut from the same cloth so it evens out.
  4. It is Putin's stupid war. Biden didn't start it. Canada, the US, the UK, France and Germany tried desperately to talk President Putin out of it. It is his crime. Not the Americans or anyone else in NATO. We need to make sure Putin fails, because if he wins, it could very likely lead to an attack on Poland or Latvia, triggering Article 5.
  5. To support workers, the US and Canada need to really step up investment in education. Peace is up to President Putin. It is his war. All we can do to avoid a larger war is to support the Ukraine to regain their freedom from Russia.
  6. It is still a darned site better than the previous administration. But then, after President Trump, the bar is so low, you would need a shovel to get under it.
  7. From Global Policy Forum:https://archive.globalpolicy.org/component/content/article/170-sanctions/41952.html "Albright has just published her memoirs, Madam Secretary, in which she clarifies her statement. Here's what she writes: I must have been crazy; I should have answered the question by reframing it and pointing out the inherent flaws in the premise behind it. Saddam Hussein could have prevented any child from suffering simply by meeting his obligations…. As soon as I had spoken, I wished for the power to freeze time and take back those words. My reply had been a terrible mistake, hasty, clumsy and wrong. Nothing matters more than the lives of innocent people. I had fallen into the trap and said something I simply did not mean. That was no one's fault but my own [page 275]." The US has a history of being clumsy in foreign policy. That is what makes Secretary George Marshall so incredible. However, you cannot just blame one political party. Americans are just not good in the sport of politics.
  8. -I've never heard of Secretary Albright promoting murdering children. -A lot of members of the US government voted for the second Gulf War. -The Afgan war was a response to the attack on the United States. It was poorly executed -The Libyan campaign was a NATO operation authorized by the UN, to create a no-fly zone over Libya. The operation was under Anglo-French command and conducted by the forces of 19 countries. I don't know why you lay the blame on American Democrats. You might be falsely accused of supporting Gaddafi. -Children die in war. It is a tragedy but it happens. President Obama's actions in this regard pale in comparison with the RCAF and RAF bombing of Dresden, causing the deaths of well over 100,000 deaths of civilians. -The recent expansion of NATO was not "pushed by the Americans, so much as the former enslaved countries of the Soviet empire begged to join NATO to avoid ever being under Russian domination again. The only war going on in the region is the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. -Bernie Sanders...who cares. -President Zelenskyy is defending the soverieignty of his country. If the US were to invade Canada, would you not want the Canadian government to defend us? -Who are Bankman-Fried?
  9. I don't understand what you are referring to. You'll have to cut me some slack. Not the brightest bulb and all that.?
  10. You shook hands with him once. You may have been the 88th handshake for him that day. Try shaking 100 hands a day, every day and you will learn not to grip too hard or it will cripple you. The "favourable wind" you speak of is responding to what people want. That is what a government is supposed to do.
  11. Nobody is made to attend a Pride Parade, but you certainly can if you want to. It's a free country. When were you made to bend a knee?
  12. Yes, and John Diefenbaker, Bob Stanfield, Bill Davis Joe Clark, Peter Lougheed and Brian Mulroney. (But definitely NOT like my Avatar, whom I loved dearly but he was a grit. ?)
  13. Are you unfamiliar with the term, "proceeds of crime?" There might be times when freezing bank withdrawls is necessary. If there is a run on the banks, the government may declare a bank holiday. If there is an illegal occupation, the government has on one occasion, invoked the emergencies act as a lever to help resolve the crisis. In that case, the verdict is pending.
  14. This is all a tempest in a teapot. I'm not worried because Canadian and American culture does not lend itsself to tyranny. Since the arrival of the French and British a little over 400 years ago, we have never had tyranny. Currently, on the one hand, we demand law and order and press the government to "do something," yet we make it increasingly difficult for law enforcement to do that. The enemy of justice is Perry Mason. Earl Stanley Gardner indoctrinated us with the ideology that every accused person was innocent. While they have the presumption of innocence, it is becoming harder and harder to obtain search warrants, to have survailance of crimminal activity, and to ensure the public is protected from dangerous individuals. A colleague of mine was sanctioned because, while searching a vehicle for open alcohol, he found illegal drugs. The drugs were concealed in a place that would not contain alcohol. He went beyond the perametres of the designated search and the case was thrown out. The key to having law and order in a free society begins in the recruiting and training process. When a police officer is solidly grounded in Peel's nine principles and professionalism, we don't need all the hoops and hurdles imposed on law enforcement. It is important to remember, it is not the potential jail time that deters a criminal. It is the certainty of getting caught. Intelligence gathering and survailance makes living in a safe and free society possible, providing we invest in creating and maintaining a professional police service.
  15. No, he is a Conservative. Perhaps you are confusing social credit or republican for conservative.
  16. Actually, it was for our friend Blackbird. But thanks. My experience over the years has been that some people who use the terms "conservative" or "marxist" don't know what they are talking about, but, then they believe the same thing about me.
  17. Mayor Tory is a Progressive Conservative. You continue to be confused what a conservative is.
  18. How is "Neo-marxist" different from regular marxist? Which tennent of Neo-marxism is this under? Marx said the means of production belong to the proletariat. How does this relate to that? It has been 50 years since I studied marxism so I'm a bit hazy.
  19. If there is a by-election, I hope Enza Anderson runs again. "A Super City Deserves a Super Model!"
  20. You do not have to use government services, but I doubt you will have a happy, long life without it. Is she complaining about government control on a Red Chinese platform? (I don't click on links)
  21. It is ironic that the common thread in this discussion is government invading our privacy etc. and then we see complaints that the government doesn't do enough to protect our privacy. Sorry, but it is our individual responsibility to protect our privacy. If you don't want anyone to know how much money you have or what you political leanings are, don't tell anyone. If you don't want to share information with the government, don't use government services. If you object to showing ID to go someplace, do go there. If you don't want banks to do credit checks on you, don't borrow money. If you want privacy, stay off the internet, destroy your phone, cut up your credit and debit cards and don't give out any information about yourself. We live in a free country, relatively speaking. (The exception is during wartime or a public emergency such as the pandemic. The government has a duty to protect.) You do not have to use government services. Don't use any digital ID and your problem is solved. There are too many people needing medical help already, so if you don't want it, it will free up a space for someone who wants it.
  22. You are half right. It will cost us in lives lost, 38 million, but a 12 hour nuclear exchange involving all of the nuclear powers will negate any conventional contribution the CAF could make, so any money we spend is merely to inject economic activity in Canada and will have no impact on the outcome of a war between NATO and Russia and or China.
  23. A world war with Russia or China won't cost us very much. The Canadian military is an expensive token with no viability. It has been that way for 70 years. We could divert several billion from the CAF to healthcare and education. We need more people in healthcare and that means vast improvements in education. We have too many people like me with history or english degrees and not enough people with real education in the sciences. It will take decades to replace all the healthcare workers, engineers, and trades people etc., we have lost in the last 10 years.
  24. We have to keep in mind that these are issues for the Provincial governments to resolve.
  25. I guess my family are lucky. I have never experienced any of what you describe. I take metformin too (doesn't everybody) and if I can't see my Doctor in time, or have a telephone consultation, the pharmasist can renew it.
