  1. here is a quote from your idol PET MS. If he say he didn't intend for everyone to learn 2 languages what are you carring on abouy how it is time for the whole counrty to learn french. "Sometimes I wish we had never described the official languages policy as `bilingualism' – because the word apparently implied that our intent is for all Canadians to learn two languages. Such is not our intent at all." April 18, 1977 Speech to the Canadian Association of Broadcasters in Winnipeg
  2. The debt was 11 billion before PET raised it 10 fold the left always complains about Mulroney doubling it but conveniently ignores who started the mess. Mulroney was faced with high interest rates and debt payment obligations growing at an exponential rate that were the after effects of Trudeau's spend thrift times.
  3. "so why don't we just accept it as a legitimate political expression? Because it's stupid and uncivilized and beneath us as a society" I am not sure we are above that stuff. after the last election and the american negative campaigning slurs by the liberals maybe the pie in the face is the new stardard for political expression by the left.
  4. not quite it is more of a mp numbers game. alberta was the bad one when the feds needed a wipping boy over scary private medicare. but it is ok in quebec because the fiberals need to get back in the good books so they can get a majority next time. quebec speaks the feds jump alberta speaks.... and the response is be quiet and just and over some extra equalization to help buy votes in another province.
  5. if you want right wing go to free domain if you want left wing go to babble
  6. even when the liberals complete privatization or petro canada I will still not go there. in 25 years I have only spent $5 and that was so I could find the next nearest gas station. I know I shoud of only spent $1
  7. and they would of had the money to direct it to the farmers in the next payment if it wasn't going to ottawa.
  8. the Alberta government could help out those farmers right away from the oil revenues. but instead big sums get sent to ottawa while the farmers have to wait a year and start going bankurpt until there is a federal election so some of that money can be sent back as an election bribe.
  9. then why didn't you vote conservative.... we couldn't vote for the block.
  10. just because it is 'possible' to do something doesn't make it right. The feds could reek havoc on Ontario if they governed by doing what is 'possible' and not what is fair. " I fail to see how the geographic location of someone has any bearing on whether they are perceiving something correctly or not. " have you ever heard of this thing called a language bill in quebec
  11. have you ever heard the phrase coffiee pot calling the tea kettle black. someone from Quebec shouldn't be accusing someone in another part of the country as having a personal bias on what is & what isn't legit.
  12. That sums it up for some of them. I remember seeing a woman on TV in the US before the war objecting to it because her son just entered the army for free education and did not plan on fighting. well the free education angle without being in harms way applies more the canadian army. my neighbor was a dentist & big house because of that free education aspect.
  13. Hydro-Quebec is owned by the quebec provincial government, it never received a dollars from the federal. Its one of the reason why we have a big provincial debt. Il name it for you: the Liberal party of Canada, with the help of Trudeau and Chretiens. And don't forget to mention a special thanks from Ontario to vote in mass for them. while you can blame ontario this time around because quebec voted for the block. Alberta remembers those 70+ seats truedau would win every election in quebec during the 70's & early 80's and the easy majorites with only a few of the ontario votes counted. that is why the quebec ecomomy has a big provinvial debt; they are socialist spenders. let me correct that; that is why the country is in debt... quebec would be in a bigger debt if quebec was paying for all trudeau's socialist programs in quebec and the ROC was still on a pre trudeau agenda. what we need is a NAP 'national auto program' where the the price of cars are sold at a 50% discount for the 'good of the country' ... i mean non ontario. businesses go under; people lose their jobs and homes while alberta gets 60 billion in 4 years.
  14. more of that selective thinking the resources above ground and 100ft down are provincial - we must keep that hydro safe; and minerals. quebec is safe in its constitution but the west is fair game to pick pocket and strip of resource rights. quebec and seperate alberta can't. the english won, them the breaks. quebec goes back 300 years when trying to justify a position and you complain because Albertan's go back 20 years instead of 20 days.
  15. Since MS & August think it would be a great idea to rob Alberta to subsidize socialism would they still agree if things were switched? If the oil came from Ontario or Quebec I can just imagine them saying take as much as you want we don't care. Quebec would scream bloody murder if the feds even thought of running an NEP on them and the separatists would win in a heartbeat if they did go through an NEP attack on Quebec. Or if Quebec hydro "energy" fell under the definition of "NEP" but Alberta’s oil was left out of the equation resulting in Quebec’s economy being hit hard and Alberta going through a mild recession... MS would love it if Trudeau left Alberta alone and demolished the Quebec economy under that scenario. But that would never happen to Quebec just like Ontario’s auto industry got an exemption from Kyoto. If oil was clean and hydro was pollution would Quebec still think a Kyoto plan would be a good idea if their hydro industry were going to be the economic target? We all know how much Quebec objects to Trudeau changing the constitution without their blessing but they think it should be changed to take Alberta’s oil revenue away. And before you say they did it to us so why not you... 2 wrongs don't make a right. That old argument it was the big bad recession caused by the evil right that caused hundreds of Alberta businesses to go under and not the wholesome NEP... That would explain why the Maritimes recovered ahead of Alberta. Yeh right; just keep telling yourself that. MS & august say Albertan’s are just whining... if you loose your business, house and life savings and have to start over again just because of a commie PM wants to practice socialism and bad economic policies you would be angry too. And before anyone says well you should of been diversified just incase there is a socialist discrimination policy that you would only expect to find in a dictatorship country in another continent... But Albertan’s know what to expect the next time around. In the 7 years prior to 61 Alberta received nowhere near the 250 billion that has gone out since. When equalization was set up it was designed to help other provinces but that has changed into a socialism subsidy program after Trudeau started messing around with it and changing its original intent. Ontario is just above the threshold of a have province. Would equalization be a socialism subsidy program if Ontario were the only have province.
  16. PEI and Ontario having the same number of senators may be a bit extreme but California has not fallen apart because Ohio or a smaller state has the same number of senators. Besides Alberta does not trust the feds to make fair decisions when PET showed what he can do with power. and to a lesser degree kyoto, mad cow, gun control...
  17. that just about sums it up. the cost outweighed the benifites
  18. And how much of that money indirectly came out of Alberta by using preferential treatment and unfair practices under PET's watch. Air Canada stock would be worth more then westjet if the liberals stayed with trudeau's plan to rob the taxpayers when ever there was a problem with one of his national companies.
  19. layton didn't back down on the martin let people die in the streets and harper didn't back down on the child porn statement because it would be a sign of weakness.
  20. It was one thing to run a 'what if ' 2 tier health on the alliance in 2000 and try to speculate what they might do in the future if they were to be elected. But the anti conservative group used the past tense phrase 'would have’ supported IRAQ and tried to pretend that is the equivalent of a hypothetical future 'what if' argument. It just doesn't have the same weight unless you are grasping at straws for any reason to reelect the liberals and prepared to believe anything.
  21. Harper is in a no win situation. You say the conservatives should not flip flop on issues. When Harper was consistent and didn't flop on the child porn gaff after the statement was already out he was criticized for being too hard on martin and not backing down. Which is it do you want a politician that is consistent or one that changes positions to match the mood of the day.
  22. When the liberals danced on the edge of the truth they said in the election he "would have" not "he will" send Canadians to Iraq to be killed (with our 1 helicopter and 1 tank). All those Ontario voters that used IRAQ as an excuse not to vote harper conviently buried the fact that after the war harper was not planning on sending Canadians when there were no WMD. It was clear harpper was not going to send Canadians after the fact when it was there was no WMD. But that definition between pre war and post war was blurred by the liberals It must be nice to have 20/20 hindsight... but the liberals were just lucky to be on the right side of the fence because they were actually pandering to Quebec over the IRAQ war at the time.
  23. Those old what if questions like what if the US found WMD and Canada looked like a chicken because we were pandering the Quebec provincial election in the prior months leading up to the war and didn't want to support the US even emotionally because it might give the separatists some ammo leading up to the provincial election. The media torpedoed the old reform in 2000 by the what if 2 tier health question but the liberals never get taken to task. In the last election a former liberal premier from the Maritimes said the feds should stop the handouts and the media never raised an eyebrow but a conservative would be crucified for saying a politically incorrect statement like that
  24. and before the next election Albertans had already changed their mind when we really knew what he stood for.
  25. yeh right; just like you thougth the liberal opposition should agree with mulroney's policies instead of finding fault.
