We don't have to abandon our beliefs just because
ticker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Kerry has been watching too much Canadian politics. He figured if the liberals could push through gay marriage in Canada that he could do the same. Kerry got a rude awakening when he saw Americans still have the backbone to stand up for their beliefs in traditional values and not let the political social elites bad mouth them into hiding. -

It is all a matter of degree. When Ontario was the only have province equalization was not a slush fund, as Ontario would not put up with being treated that way. The fiberals are now telling Newfoundland the are not allowed to get richer then Ontario from their offshore oil reserves Alberta received that memo in 1980 from your buddy trudeau. -

Ceaser Ontario was a more conservative province like in the days of Bill Davis but things have changed. And I know BC on a provincial level is still trying to decide if they like the cutbacks to fix the economy or put the NDP back in power to ruin the economy. But at the Federal level BC voted in more Liberals last election then they did during trudeau time -

It is just an unbalanced political system with ontario/quebec calling the shots while the US is more balanced. Quebec has a differerent view on how to run the country with the lefties and Ontario has been watered down but prepared to go along as long as they still get to control the political agenda. The bottom line is have provinces are generally conservatives and the have nots lean toward the NDP/liberals. Ontario has been remolded by trudeau with loading the GTA with immigrants that will vote liberal no matter what the policy. The western have not provinces are getting tired of the Ontario/Quebec liberal regime and prepared to vote in more conservatives. -

The reality is that Canada and the US are diverging more and more every day. We have been brainwashed by different values. The problem with Chretien's re-election was the same as when Trudeau was elected. It brings all the socialist kooks out into the open because now they feel they have a right to spew their pie in the sky Trudeaumania venom. -

But in Canada due to political correctness & Ontario/Quebec setting the agenda it is ok to muzzle the Canadians that believe in the tradition definition of marriage and call them extremists for not saying ok do what ever you want to do to traditional values. It was woman, blacks and Hispanics standing up for their beliefs; not the evil white male Anglo Saxon trying to suppress the gays. The US gets criticized for being outspoken but at least they stand up for their beliefs instead of being mowed over in the name of political correctness like bunch of ostridges afraid to challenge the liberal elite system. -

Who will speak for a united Canada/
ticker replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That is unless Ralfie runs for the liberals... where his roots are. Just like Quebec has separatist and Charest changed parties to be Quebec premier; Alberta has separatist & Ralfie can put on his liberal coat and run for the fed liberals. -

Ralph talks without thinking first. He handed the liberals a bone by aiding the conspiracy of hidden agenda and in cahoots with Harper to privatize healthcare. The liberals would find him an easy target for scare tactics and conspiracy theories in federal politics. -

Alberta would rather give more to Newfoundland to help them get self sufficient from their oil reserves then to help pay for the social goodies like 7$/day child care in Quebec. -

Exit polls are inherently unscientific. If you actually watched any of the coverage yesterday, you heard the commentators saying to not put much faith in the early exit polls. 1- exit polls are not a scientific sample. They don't have enough employees to put an interviewer at each polling station. They pick a few polling stations which they hope are representitive of the region as a whole. 2- exit polls are not a random sample. They reflect the prejudices of the interviewer. It's known, for instance, that interviewers would generally rather roll up on white women than black men. 3- exit polls are voluntary response. As you are leaving a polling station and somebody rolls up to ask who you voted for, you can (and should) tell them you voted for the My Foot Up Your Ass party. Many people decline to answer the questions. The people who do answer are the people who want to tell you who they prefer. This puts the whole exercise into the same world as internet polls. 4- time of day. The exit polls that showed Kerry having big leads were taken early on in the day. Who votes early in the day? Disproportionately it is stay-at-home moms, the unemployed, students. These demographics skew towards Kerry, so of course the early exit polls showed Kerry leading. If you were paying attention during the analysis, you would have heard numerous disclaimers that later exit polling would represent demographics that skew more towards Bush. Exit polls are a joke, syrup. They give the talking heads something to blather about while they're waiting for real news to come in. Exit polls are done to find out what factors influenced voters during the final days of the election, so that the parties can better plan their campaigns next time. As a means of predicting the outcome of the election, they're worthless. -kimmy So MS says the boxes were stuffed because the democrats are loosing to the republicans. I don't recall MS saying Canadian ballot boxes were stuffed when the liberals got more votes then the pollsters were saying. There would be no complaint from MS if republicans got less votes then exit poll surveys were sugesting. -

no province is supposed to be richer then ontario. alberta found that out with trudeaus NEP money grab. -

That may have been the original purpose for equalization when Ontario was the only have province but all bets are off now with Trudeaus social engineering and not worrying about needing Alberta votes to hold onto a majority. -

Newfie look at the bright side at least you are dealing with a martin minority where there is a chance for Danny to negotiate a better deal instead of a trudeau majority where there would be no chance of getting a better deal. The claw back would be more then 70% if NFLD had a busy offshore oil industry when PET was in power. -

lets wait until BC gets around to developing offshore resources and the feds want to clawback 70% of revenues then we will see if ceaser still thinks it is a good idea to rape provinces. -
Maybe Edmonton will vote more PCs to thank Ralph for opening his mouth up in the federal election and giving Paul Martin the healthcare conspiracy ammunition.

Harper appreciates the importance of provincial control of resource revenues and was prepared to put it in writing. Alberta knows not to trust the lieberals. If Trudeau didn’t care about 25 seats in Alberta during his NEP why should martin care about 5 seats in NFLD. Then again Trudeau was arrogant, stubborn, knew it would be a lost cause to admit he had gone overboard with his NEP and had no chance of getting 5 lieberals elected in Alberta -

NFLD & NS had a chance to get 100% of oil revenue by voting for Harper but the lieberals coned them again. The leiberals never would of made the bribe promise if it wasn't for Harper pushing them in that direction in the first place. I guess a maybe promise and the handouts is better then a sure promise. The lieberls want the keep the Maritimes as have not to insure they keep voting lieberal. The Maritimes are suffering from the battered wife syndrome. -
I guess there is no "belly aching" if your a socialist from another province. everything is fine in socialville and ceaser refuses to address the cause of the belly aching as you say.
-
harper said the money was there during the election and the liberals said they were broke. now the next test is what kind of deal NS and NFLD are going to get for their offshore oil. another promise from harper that made the liberals pretend to change their position.
-
lol. If you say so. If you think taxes are high now just wait till Alberta runs out of conventional oil and the socialist need to find a new source of money.
-
Kimmy & stamps are doing a fine job I could repeat them if it would make you happy. I saw things like that cbc clip a few years ago but i will let kimmy take the credit for it.

Staighten out a U of A professer? You truley are deluded... Ereka knows more the that professor after all his connections to buddies in the oil patch think the NEP was the best thing since sliced bread.

Canada was not so social haven 100 years ago or even 50. You are never going to convince Albertans that the dust spot hinterland received 200 billion in the first 50 years to offset the 200 billion that has gone out since to prop up trudeau’s vision of socialism. The Canadian government simply didn't redistribute wealth yesteryear as it does today Between 1961 and 1997, a net $167 billion dollars left Alberta for Ottawa But if baystreet jumping in on an investment opportunity “AFTER” the US put up the initial money to get it started equates to the center of the universe creating the oil industry …
