palestinian nationalism would have never been if it wasn't for the rise of zionism and for the european's shame for the treatment of jews. their fuck up ended up punishing the arabs who lived in palestine. the population of jews in palestine was 8% before the mass jewish migration. you can't just pretend people didn't live there. argentina and other countries were also considered before the migration to palestine. it's not like the jews were coming home. ben gurion in 1937: "The right which the Arabs in Palestine have is one due to the inhabitants of any country . . . because they live here, and not because they are Arabs . . . The Arab inhabitants of Palestine should enjoy all the rights of citizens and all political rights, not only as individuals, but as a national community, just like the Jews." (Shabtai Teveth, p. 170)

you can't guarantee such a thing. there will always be extremist groups on both sides. one thing that is guaranteed is that the occupation will continue to fan the flames of extremism. regardless, it's not israel's decision whether palestinians will have their own state. all israel can do is to stall what is going to happen. give up security? how is allowing palestinians to have their own state giving up security? they continued to occupy the land by controlling the borders, air and seas. so they didn't really stop the occupation of gaza, by the real definition. not only that, but it's fair to accept that the rockets are a response to the unfair treatment of the gazans through a brutal blockade which started when hamas was voted into power. israel and u.s. will be side-stepped. they've had more than their share of opportunity to help create a palestinian state. they failed miserably because of those who control the israeli government. the extreme right wing zionist government is not interested to ever allowing a real palestinian state. they're still in lala land and dreaming of a greater israel. -

? you're a bit wild and all over the place with your remarks. how many saipans, peeves and jbg's do we need here with their irresponsible, ignorant and misinformed comments? why is israel always so fearful of doing independent investigations? why are they still holding onto the evidence like videos that were taken by the passengers? why are there dishonest people who are trying to justify their actions? the longer this continues, the more i realize that the people in charge of israel will never be the ones who will be able to take israel to the direction of peace. israel has become incapable of being honest. it's always about deception, twisting and marketing everything that comes out. all of this is reflected in those who go to any length to justify israeli actions. -

what has annan admitted: Annan: Israel guilty of truce violations In meeting with Defense Minister Peretz, UN secretary-general slams Israel for violating southern Lebanon ceasefire, calls on Israel to lift blockade imposed on Lebanon ... UN Chief Annan Calls on Israel to End 'Illegal Occupation' by Irwin Arieff UNITED NATIONS - U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan harshly criticized Israel on Tuesday, calling on it to rein in its attacks on Palestinian civilians and end its "illegal occupation" of Palestinian lands. there is a lot more annan has said, but yeah, you know, lets pretend that the criticism that israel receives are only from fringe countries and organizations and are not worthy of taking seriously. -

again, the UN is a big organization that has many subsidiaries. they're separate in how they work and what their system is. so what about the goldstone report? do you agree with it or not? if not, why not? what about the report this thread is about? the one american woman didn't read. do you agree with it or not? if not, why not? -

UN is a big organization with several sub organizations. these organizations and committees have different systems. there is no doubt that there are problems with some of the organizations and committees. like durban, for example. however, you can't disregard UN as useless based on something like the above. the UN has a lot of productive and necessary organizations. take the fact finding mission, headed by judge goldstone for example. goldstone is one of the most respected judges in the world. he's been behind very high profile cases, including the hunt for nazis in argentina. goldstone set the rules on how the investigation will be conducted. yet, those who are afraid of any criticism of israel, try to dismiss the report because it originated from the UN. -

you're trying to babble your way out of what is obvious; which is that you're trolling. both the post you've wasted your time on replying to and the report have said that the israeli blockade is legal while the raid was excessive and the deaths unacceptable. hardly one-sided. i expect more denial by you. you've become an expert in that. -

then why did you 'waste your time' and continue to waste your time by pressing reply and responding to something you haven't even read? you enjoy trolling? -

it's not just UN report after UN report that criticizes israel. numerous human rights organizations criticize israel as well. shocking that you would dismiss those as well. -

are you dismissing another report because it criticizes israel? shocking. -
The report concluded that “Israel faces a real threat to its security from militant groups in Gaza” and had imposed the naval blockade “as a legitimate security measure” to prevent weapons from entering the strip by sea. Israeli commandos “faced significant, organized and violent resistance from a group of passengers when they boarded the Mavi Marmara, requiring them to use force for their own protection,” the report found. Still, it said, “Israel’s decision to board the vessels with such substantial force at a great distance from the blockade zone and with no final warning immediately prior to the boarding was excessive and unreasonable. . . . The loss of life and injuries resulting from the use of force by Israeli forces during the takeover of the Mavi Marmara was unacceptable.” link two interesting notes: the report's comments on the legality of the blockade contradicts the fact finding mission's conclusion from the HR council report. and “Forensic evidence showing that most of the deceased were shot multiple times, including in the back, or at close range has not been adequately accounted for in the material presented by Israel,” turkey has now expelled the israeli ambassador as israel declined to apologize for the deaths of the turkish citizens aboard the mavi marmara.

here are a couple of charities that have been rated high as far as efficiency and accountability: action against hunger and if you don't mind giving to a religious charity: catholic relief services

your summery of the conflict is missing some major issues and without putting them into the equation your argument is hallow and incredibly superficial. here are a few: - illegal annexation of land - illegal settlements - illegal increase of the settlements - occupation and prevention of the freedom of movement - not allowing a palestinian state - report after report from expert organizations showing that israel has violated international law during their military actions - the severe and harsh gaza blockade - the inexcusable, one-sided deaths being experienced by palestinians
-
the same world organization that allowed israel to become a state. the same organization that israel is a member of. the whole world including canada and u.s. see the settlements as illegal.

you're typing and not making sense again. just a reminder.

leave the satire to those who are witty and funny. you're as bad as the failed foxnews' answer to the daily show which was canceled. the problem the show had and you have, besides not being funny, is that you're not able to be honest about the whole situation.

israel passes law to punish those who boycott israel
bud replied to bud's topic in The Rest of the World
i don't support ahmadinejad's government or their rules so your comment does not make sense like most of your random, meaningless rue-esque comments. so far, you've unashamedly shown support for pinochet, a military dictator and you've also supported an undemocratic law in israel which punishes those who want to express themselves by boycotting. you need to accept who you are.
